    We all know that not all 99s are created equal. Sometimes there is even a 96 that is better than a 99. Why? Because the in-game overall ratings are confined to SDS’s formula, which takes into account stats that don’t matter much - or even at all (looking at you, HR/9).

    So what if there was a way to change this formula and make it fully customizable? I have created a spreadsheet which does exactly that. Just navigate through the sheets and change the attribute weights to your liking. Bunt/Speed cheeser? Try weighting 33.3% drag bunt, 33.3% speed, 33.3% steal.

    There are tons of other stuff to customize, including bonuses for active quirks, switch-hitting, and even based off of how well the card plays in-game (we all know 98 Mondesi > 99 Ripken for whatever reason - this sheet lets you address it).

    I’ve entered over 150 hitters and over 100 pitchers. If you don’t see everyone you’d like to consider, adding players is super easy: just begin entering another row at the bottom. Everything you need is found on the player card. The weights included are what I personally am using currently, but I change weights constantly. I did remove how well each card plays in game for me - be sure to fill that out if you wish to use it in the calculations.

    I’ll attach the link at the bottom, but first a couple pointers:

    1. The link is for Google Sheets. I STRONGLY suggest downloading the file into Excel before use. This can be done by File>Download>Excel.

    2. Read the directions for each column. These will appear whenever you select a cell in the column. If you’re still confused comment here and I’m happy to let you know what the feature does. (Note: not completely sure if these will survive the Excel>Sheets>Excel journey. Let me know if you can’t see them.)

    3. Only edit WHITE cells! Gray and Black/Red/Green cells contain formulae vital to the performance of the spreadsheet.

    Happy Custom Overall-ing!

    I love this, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at. I see the ratings in spots and the averages for contact and power. Where do you have a general overall rating? Is that the AR rating?

    Custom overalls by position are in the far right of the ‘Hitters’ and ‘Pitchers’ sheets. The are conditionally formatted red and green.

    @WDK19
    Just wanted to let you know that I THINK row 1 is white font, as I can't see it unless I click on it. So, how do I use this? I am confused. 🙂

    Make sure you download it as an excel file. It shows up like that as a Google sheet for whatever reason.

    So, what do I do with it?

    You can input how important you think various attributes are and it will give you a custom “Overall” rating that reflects how good the card is based on that stats YOU think are important, rather than SDS’s arbitrary Overall formula.

    Edit: click through the columns and sheets and read instructions for more in depth directions.
