Different route next season

Not sure if it was because of the pandemic or if this was actually planned; but with the amount of 'free' and 'grind 99' cards SDS releases this year; locking in Inning Bosses was a waste of my time.
Even with the head start of 75 Stars, which didn't help me get them faster, I locked in SO MANY stubs.
Yes, you can't take the stubs with you; but still....
I locked in Awards Ortiz, Sig Mo, and Sig Walker (all were at least 300 K at one point) and even though I'm a huge Red Sox fan; there are better options for Ortiz (Babe - FREE), MO (Gossage - Free at 50 w in a LONG Event), and Walker (Yelich - Free).
Plus don't get me started on locking in Sig Rollins only to have them.come out with POTM Tatis, Mondesi, AND J-Ram.
Even if I subtracted the 75 Stars ingot for the few programs where I locked in all the bosses; I still would've made it to 300.
And don't get me started on how they may release some of the prior inning bosses, in the last Inning Program, like they did last year.
So, I think next year my game plan is to grind as much as I can for the 'free' and the ' Grind 99' cards and if I end up keeping an Inning Boss, it will be for a player that I like.
-
I do think that's the evolution of the game, the cards get better. What kind of irks me is how quickly they relegated guys like Ortiz, Musial and Rollins to insignificance.
What I do like though is that you can field a competetive team without going to deep. The early guys are still relevant.. mantle, Shef, Biggio, Sandberg, even reggie is a solid bench bat.. And a team fielded from freebies and earnables can be just as competitive as the team with million dollar players.

Man, I feel you. Very similar story with me. I can add to your pain - I worked so hard to prestige certain guys, only for them to be afterthoughts on my team now.

Disagree with the first two posts. I don't think you should be worried about locking in stubs this year. There are so many stubs in the game. This is the first year where I've managed to complete Live series collections NMS and with no flipping. EAch of the bosses served a purpose at the time. The Walker, Mo, Papi Inning was awesome. They are only so expensive now becasue so many people locked them in. with the regards to 'irrelevant cards'. I think the beauty of this year and content strategy is that people have different line ups. I still have Musial at 1B hitting .360.
-
I never lock in any bosses, there’s always better cards that come along. That’s how I save so many stubs

I haven't locked in any, thankfully.

Right, which is why he's talking about a plan for next year.. And as far as Musial at 1st, right after that SDS drops Ruth, the Gehrig for free (albeit a grind). Then Foxx... Same deal with J-Roll... Great card, till they dropped Mondesi and Tatis, Wagner, etc..
Don't get me wrong, I love the options, but there is a hierarchy of cards when you get to playing competitive teams and there isn't too much variance from one team to the next.
What would be cool is if they had a Time Machine event, lets say for a few days you only play with guys in the game as of the end of the 1st inning, then 3 days of guys up to the end of the 2nd... and so on...
-
My problem is that I don't play as much as I used to since I have kids and coach sports and stuff. I usually end up flipping cards at work and then I usually buy the other 2 bosses and just about earn 300 stars a program. I get the 75 stars for each program, not because I want to, but because I need to or I won't get to 300. I'm a streaky player, so I might not play the game for 3-5 days and then play all night on the actual day I do play it and go through the player programs and stuff to get my stars and get my team set. But, most of these bosses aren't even a thought on my team from July/August until the next game comes out.

We don’t know if inning programs will return in their current format. It’s about time for a shake up IMO.
-
I think the Inning method has been pretty successful, especially compared to 16/17/18. Wouldn't be shocked if #GriffeyInning is a test run for next year.
With multi-platform incoming, if they were going to shake it up, now's the time.

Speaking of multi-platform; I assume there will be different markets for each platform next year?
Like you can still buy LS Trout; but if you're playing on the PS4/5, you can't buy him off the Xbox market?

The only bosses I locked in were the ones that were glitched and you could still sell (2nd inning I believe)
Every other boss I unlocked I immediately sold for stubs, and then purchased whoever I wanted a week later at an estimated average of about 100k less.
They made the FTP route a viable option, and honestly that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. There's still cards not everyone has that are attainable with a little savvy, there are cards only attainable to those who are elite and can go 12-0.
Almost more importantly than all that my eyes is that there's so many good cards readily available that you're seeing some different builds and not running into the exact same squad every game. That's refreshing to see.
-
Do we know for sure what other platforms 21 is coming out on? I know they released a statement saying as early as 21 multi platforms, but didn't say which ones. Unless I'm wrong.

Yeah I felt silly grinding the presitges for Didi and Correa. Correa was off my bench by the time I had him done.
Although I needed the prestiges for Trout I gues....
-
Unless you reach 300 stars insanely fast and immediately sell, locking in bosses for the voucher isn’t worth it.
Though I did lock in Mo, Walker, Ortiz because I knew 2/3 would be on my team all year and I wanted Maddux as fast as possible.
-
Heck, I'm even thinking that if they being back the way TA was run this year; that I may even dedicate the first month of playing to nothing but MTO with a little bit of Daily Missions and some Event games mixed in.
