Post game stub reward taking stubs away?

Not sure if I'm the only one who has noticed this but after a game where you earn stubs for playing (ie finishing a conquest game) it will sometimes take a stub away instead of adding whatever the stubs are supposed to be, post game.

I thought my eyes were tricking me for a long while but I've seen it enough times now, that I know it's for sure happening.
