I go into my first game of RS in a while, now with Mantle, Biggio, Trout(95), and Sheffield all in my lineup. I win by a bunch right? NO.
Paxton gives up three runs in 6 innings. I
was getting "perfect gamed" through 5 and 2/3, until Yordan Alvarez hits a double. I then pop out.
In the 8th: Biggio doubles, I kept going, somehow get a triple. Guy on third, no outs. I got this! NO. Trout: K.
Perez: I needed a hit, so I decided to contact swing. I would have gotten a two run home run had I done normal swing. He flies out. I could have tagged up, but I accidentally sent Biggio beforehand, so I had to get him back, which he did. Two outs. Rizzo: K.
9th inning: Winker pinch hits. He DEMOLISHES a line drive through the shift? No. Somehow, the 2nd baseman caught it. Next: Mantle Walks. Can I make a comeback? NOPE. Tatis flies out, and then Sheffield struck out.
UGH. I lost 3-0. with two hits.
Like @bshaff27 said, Gibson was GOOD against me. Not sure if it is because I am bad, haven't played online in a while, or because I can't pick up his windup. Not sure.EDIT: I used this. Actually really detailed. https://theshownation.com/mlb20/games/125374233?username=jz2016cubs

I havn't thrown gibson in a RS game yet, but I have thrown him a few in friendlies and he was pretty [censored] good. I'm 725 so I still may face some AS players so I'm not confident how he'd do on AS, but he seems like he'd hold his own on HOF. I really wish his card was prestige able, I feel like that would really make it a great card.

No, because everyone else has them as well and are used to using them lol.
PS, Gibson has been a beast for a lot of people. I had a perfecto until 1 out in the 9th in my start with him. Still faced the min in a shutout.
-
I faced Gibson today, and destroyed him. Sometimes it’s your day and others it isn’t.

On AS or HOF?

I mean I am awful at this game, but when I play games and only have 2 hits I can’t even imagine winning that game.
-
Id just forget about it...keep it moving, you'll lose to worse pitchers , I'd chalk it up to it being your first online game in a long time & not that Gibson is a beast.

That's the thing for me though, Gibson SHOULD be a beast.

HOF, I was just hot -
It happens man I just played a guy that I struck out 20 times and kept him to 2 hits and I almost lost

Young man we need to discuss lineup construction.
This is not BR, no way Mantle should be leading off.
Especially when you consider the rest of your lineup.I know you love Rizzo, but he has no place in your lineup this late in the cycle.
There are tons of better 1B.
Save Rizzo for conquest and the Ruth grind if you insist on using him.
Eventually Ruth should be your 1B. -

Sorry you lost, but glad you got back into the groove of things on RS. I wish my internet services at home was useable for online games because when I play online at my brothers, it's a lot of fun (although frustrating for my brother since he does the hitting)

Would you mind helping me with my lineup? I now have 99 Robert in for Rizzo. Him and Belli Switched of course. So now I have: Mantle. Biggio. Sheffield. Tatis. Bellinger. Perez. Trout. Robert.
Could you help me out?
EDIT: I have had Rizzo in because I love his swing, but I moved him to the bench.
I know that Robert will be leading off. Need help with the rest.
I normally try to have L, R, L. Or something like that to make sure I am not vulnerable, but I am willing to change.
I am going to play a RS game in a bit, once I get some lineup help. -

Using the guys you mentioned....- Tatis R
- Trout R
- Mantle S
- Sheffield R
- Bellinger L
- Robert R
- Biggio R
- Perez R
You need to improve your catcher.
Grandal (2020 Postseason) is slow but is a switch hitter to further diversify your lineup.Or if Robert is leadoff
1 Robert
2 Trout
3. Mantle
4. Sheffield
5. Bellinger
6. Tatis
7. Biggio
8. PerezGetting Grandal would let you drop Biggio to 8 and have a big bat behind the speed/power hitter at 6 (Tatis or Robert)
-
Lineup is too righty heavy. Get Cobb or Walker if you can afford it. Catcher I’d recommend a CAP. Grandal is incredibly slow and has a bad arm.
Ideally, here is your lineup with those changes:
LF Cobb. (If Walker, hit 3rd and move Trout and Mantle up)
CF Trout
RF Mantle
SS Tatis
1B Belli (upgrade here soon with Ruth or Gehrig)
3B Sheffield
C CAP
2B Biggio -

I have the flashback Grandal. Would that be ok, or should I get this one? I can buy Posada if needed. But that would hurt my time to get Walker or Cobb.
For Robert batting leadoff: If you don't think he should, I will probably sell him and save up for Larry Walker or Ty Cobb.@Bob_Loblaw1984 said in Well, that was ......AWFUL:

Quesiton: Walker or Cobb?
If I sell Robert and Ian Anderson that I just bought, that will get me to 133K. I will then need 40K to get to Cobb.
For outfield: I hit well with TN Yordan Alvarez. Could he be a starter? -
Anybody have thoughts?
-
OR I could get 99 Maddux. Or 99 Scherzer. With the stubs I have
-
@jz2016cubs said in Well, that was ......AWFUL:

know you're stub conscious at the moment so I'd say Cobb is the move for your team & he hits bombs don't worry about the drop off of power between him and Walker. I would definitely not start Yordan under any condition, you already know why...he will cost you in the OF.
I'd also argue that the PS D'Arnaud coupled with adding Cobb will provide the cheapest and more impactful upgrade to your team. Don't get too caught up on hitting handedness especially when guys like D'Arnaud have reverse splits..

I will get Cobb, and then d'Arnaud.
Will that change the lineup recommendations from above?
