What people seem to forget is you don’t have to play ranked to play online games. Unless you have to earn the points In ranked seasons, it isn’t that bad. Just play the regular online where you pick difficulty and stuff

In the past, only games played in the competitive modes (Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale and Events) counted toward missions. Casual Online never did.

I guess I don't fully see where offline folks are coming from with this.
There were a ton of cards that were only obtainable through conquest maps, an offline mode. There was also the moments rewards cards, which were akin to WS rewards cards. I don't particularly enjoy offline play, but you know what? I did them, because that's the only way you could get those cards.
I fully support both online and offline folks getting what they want, but I'm just not sure I understand what exactly is missing from the offline experience, even after reading it in a bunch of different threads?
From my perspective, the problem was that there was a poor variety of meaningful things that could be done with the cards I collected.
Conquest is nothing but three-inning road games. Only Play vs. CPU offered 9-inning games, but Play vs. CPU is unfulfilling - it's like if there were no Ranked Seasons, just Casual Online. Moments? The overwhelming majority of them didn't involve our DD teams.
OK now I hear you. That would feel unfulfilling. I don't know what the answer is, because I don't know what a good proxy for playing a human is. But you're right, smashing out vs. the cpu in its current format would get old quick.
They have online franchise again. You can invite a few friends then set teams to computer. Start your own league with your DD team.
That isn't offline though, man. That's 100% online, but against people you don't mind playing against.
I’m pretty sure They said in the stream that cpu can take over teams.

They could do offline versions of Ranked Seasons or Events with an increasing difficulty level for the CPU. We know that they can tweak difficulty settings and set and lock sliders how they want them.
I enjoy playing conquest with my best team, but lets be honest, you could complete most conquest maps without ever going above veteran level.
In regards to the Prestige capable boss cards, I have to assume that the base card is sellable and then, when you complete and turn in the program, that it gets locked and set to "No Sell". Inning bosses made up quite a bit of the marketplace last year. I don't think SDS wants to have 30-33 of the most desirable cards as "No Sell". That would mean that Program vouchers could not be used in order to get a jump start on the next program. It would also limit their ability to be used in collections if you can only ever get 1 boss per inning.
I disagree that DD is predominantly an online mode. Sure, I think that was the intention, but based on how much offline content they have added the last few years, their metrics must be telling them that a) lots of people play offline and b)those people spend money. Having said that, I do not think they need to add another reward based mode for offline. They have already added a ton of offline content the last few years (including mid season stuff like signature teams last year) and offline rewards are good as it is.
If you want to play a season vs cpu 9 inning games offline, you can right now. If you want a challenge in conquest you can currently play all the games on legend. There is no reason for SDS to give any more offline specific rewards than they already are.
I think the offline stuff on DD is an incentive to get people to play online
I can see two sides to the online/offline stuff.
On one side they would prefer people play online because it helps matchmaking go quicker and allows players to match up more evenly with a larger player pool.
On the other side they have to realize that there is a contingent of players (which includes myself) who would just quit playing the mode entirely if not for the offline elements. Offline players buy stubs too so they don't want to drive away potential stub customers.

It's not just about being able to play with the legends; a huge part of it (for me, at least) is the journey of building and improving my team by collecting cards, which I find much more interesting and entertaining than being a GM in Franchise.

Only if the original owner of the team drops out. You can't assign the CPU to teams at the beginning. Many of us offline players wanted that and were disappointed to find out you can't do it.

Yes, but we also have confirmation that the CPU will only take over a team when a human player quits or gets kicked, which is why I've been calling single-player Custom Leagues a loophole.

You would need to have a lot of friends join and then quite to get a league by yourself.

Yeah, if a CPU can take over a team mid league then I can't see why there would not be an option allow it to start the season for one, especially with MLB teams.
The only thing I could think of is that they CPU is not able to handle much more than setting lineups and playing the games. Also, setting up a CPU team for a DD league might require some programming to get the CPU to stay within the confines of the league rules and use some logic when building a DD team.

We really should get all of us offline guys to take turns creating a league and kicking each other out of it. Then we would all have our own vs CPU league. Only issue I have is I canceled PS plus last year, I'd have to get it back.

Yes, I completely agree. The journey from a low overall to a high overall team, the build, is what attracts me to this mode as well as the completionist parts of my brain for getting cards. Then we have the online community, which gets their pleasure from that same mentality of collecting and building, but with competition added into it. Some of either group may not care about the card collecting, but I'm guessing those are the biggest reasons people play this mode.
The decision of focus that people are upset with, including myself, only limit one of these groups, and it just so happens to be the group with less of a reason to play the mode already.

This is a great idea. I'm down for it. Bring this up again when the game launches....

Agree with several of the posters above. I really enjoy DD for two reasons - 1) the completion aspect (mission accomplished!!!) and 2) the one out of every 3-4 online games that are really competitive against enjoyable opponents. And oh yeah, 3) every so often you get the thrill of beating some [censored] who cheeses and taunts.
I'm one of the odd ducks who actually enjoyed the crazy grinds in 18 - until you got to the immortal level and it just got stupid. But playing offline games with a variety of players and figuring out how to maximize the grind impact of every AB and pitch thrown. Had a big a$$ notebook and everything and I had a blast with it. Played enough RS games to get those rewards and that was it.
And then I played mostly online in 19, went 102-58 in RS and made CS once, and that was fun too.
And I've never spent an extra cent on the game. I like the content that SDS delivers. Are there hiccups, sure! are there issues, sure! But for 60 bucks a year I get thousands of hours of great playable content and it's really fun and gets me engaged with the MLB season better.

Correct, there’s is now a way to play the CPU with your DD team, and a completely new mode to play offline as well while completing missions, team affinities, and everything else in DD. How many different ways do people need to play offline?
