I just want to say, I don't agree that DD is supposed to be an only online mode. Offline players have their place (I am mostly online, so I get where the online people are coming from, but I disagree)
However, it seems the major complaint is offline players don't have much to do with their DD teams.
Lets exam this. What Online players can do with their DD teams - Ranked seasons, events. That's it.
What Offline players can do with their DD teams - Conquest, Play vs Cpu, (Some moments, not enough imo, but hopefully they expand on that this year).
So it's not like Online has a wealth of modes to use their DD teams compared to offline.
The Complaint is no offline mode for 9 inn games except vs CPU. Nothing close to what RS is for Online players.
Online has no 9 inning mode besides RS. So offline has play vs cpu, online has ranked. Each only has one 9 inning mode.
You’re not wrong, but RS has a goal and rewards while vs. CPU has none. You can make minimal progress towards the xp reward path or inning program, but those things can be done everywhere else in the game.
And I agree with that, but reading through this thread, but people in this have said things like "Yes there is plenty of "stuff" to do, but not with your DD collection of cards"
Which is not true, offline has as many modes as online. Technically speaking, using that quote, there is as much offline as online. Is it as good? No, but it seems many people have been arguing that online has so much more to do.
-
They could have gave the innings grind offline stat missions, it look like they were only online. They set the level you must play at AS or higher.
-
I am not about complainers but I am about ideas and solutions for online and offline. I do think every card should be available to all users, Majority cards that are earned Online can be sold. I do not think the Prestige cards (Red Diamonds) can be sold on the market.

Obviously there’s stuff to do offline, but there’s much less things to work towards while using your DD team.
If SDS would’ve just implemented stat grinds available to do offline, I think people would’ve been a lot happier. They could’ve just given people stat missions for conquest, like in the 11th inning program at least.

Even if you jack up the requirements, I'd bet there are still plenty of H2H players who would play versus the CPU as the path of least resistance, leading back to the MLB 18 problem.
Besides which, even opening up the prestige stat missions to offline wouldn't be a selling point to me. That's too much like what was in 17 and 18. I'd much rather have meaningful games than meaningful tasks in meaningless games.

The problem was that 18 it was to much of offline for me I rarely played online cause of the stat missions. If you had say get 25 hits online with player A. made it 125 or 200 offline which would actually be easier. I play both. I would do the online. They could make the user lock in the choice where you can not do both. 25 hits online you get 5 stars and for 200 offline you get 2 stars. Those who really hate online it would take them awhile to accomplished like it did in 18 but not as long if you do it online.

This is not about me or about you it is about what is best for everyone. How can SDS make it good for everyone who loves playing DD.

Wrong, Online players can play friends as a casual game HTH
They also have Online Custom Leagues this year. Offline players can do this, but have to kick out users to get CPU control.
Again this isnt a me vs you arguement, just pointing out that online did get a new mode for their DD team

Yeah that should be a good mode, I do not think I will do any of those but we shall see.I did not feel this was ever an argument, just opinions about the game.
-
The concept of "play online or play another game mode", in a business sense, is idiotic. Diamond Dynasty is the only mode that is fresh ever year. Those "other modes" rarely get touched. As an owner of 19', why should I buy 20'? Is a roster update worth $60? So I can become "bros" with ballplayers in RTTS? Companies want to bring more players into their game modes, not push them away in groups. Especially when the devs push the idea that offline players can achieve everything that online players can achieve by "playing your way".
-
I actually cant believe I am going to say this but sds should take a page out of EAs handbook and look into something like squad battles. They are boring as [censored] in football and hockey but they would be great for the offline crowd in mlb
-
I'll give SDS the benefit of the doubt until Friday. They did give offliners a bit of a stat grind in the 11th Inning Program of 19, so maybe they'll continue that. If every inning they do some optional stat grind like that, I'll be happy
-
I guess I don't fully see where offline folks are coming from with this.
There were a ton of cards that were only obtainable through conquest maps, an offline mode. There was also the moments rewards cards, which were akin to WS rewards cards. I don't particularly enjoy offline play, but you know what? I did them, because that's the only way you could get those cards.
I fully support both online and offline folks getting what they want, but I'm just not sure I understand what exactly is missing from the offline experience, even after reading it in a bunch of different threads?

From my perspective, the problem was that there was a poor variety of meaningful things that could be done with the cards I collected.
Conquest is nothing but three-inning road games. Only Play vs. CPU offered 9-inning games, but Play vs. CPU is unfulfilling - it's like if there were no Ranked Seasons, just Casual Online. Moments? The overwhelming majority of them didn't involve our DD teams.

OK now I hear you. That would feel unfulfilling. I don't know what the answer is, because I don't know what a good proxy for playing a human is. But you're right, smashing out vs. the cpu in its current format would get old quick.

Bring back TEAM EPICS from a couple years back. It would give meaning to play vs CPU games outside of just accumulating innings

I only caught a tiny part of the stream, but I did see them talking about the prestige diamonds and how they were using them to respond to the requests for the return of some of the stat grinds. Except that in my experience, 95+% of the people asking for stat grinds were offline players looking for more to do than just play Conquest over and over.
As someone looking for better things to do with my DD collection without having to play H2H, was there anything new in this stream?
Nope. DD has a Destiny problem for offline players: "Lots of content and none of it matters."
The game plays like dogshvt online and SDS continually trying to push folks towards the borderline broken H2H modes, at least in relation to the offline portion, is going to catch up to them eventually.
Non-head to head you have moments, showdown, RTTS, franchise, march to October, conquest — everything they add is mostly offline stuff. Or playable on both. If they have a few missions online for things either play it or don’t get the reward. That’s exactly what I do for rewards offline because I don’t really like offline play much.

They have online franchise again. You can invite a few friends then set teams to computer. Start your own league with your DD team.

That isn't offline though, man. That's 100% online, but against people you don't mind playing against.

They could do offline versions of Ranked Seasons or Events with an increasing difficulty level for the CPU. We know that they can tweak difficulty settings and set and lock sliders how they want them.
I enjoy playing conquest with my best team, but lets be honest, you could complete most conquest maps without ever going above veteran level.
In regards to the Prestige capable boss cards, I have to assume that the base card is sellable and then, when you complete and turn in the program, that it gets locked and set to "No Sell". Inning bosses made up quite a bit of the marketplace last year. I don't think SDS wants to have 30-33 of the most desirable cards as "No Sell". That would mean that Program vouchers could not be used in order to get a jump start on the next program. It would also limit their ability to be used in collections if you can only ever get 1 boss per inning.
