Question on Latency
-
My PS is wired and I have a 600Mbps connection. When I am pitching the ball slows down or comes to a complete stop before proceeding across the plate. Not every game but most. I realize my opponent is seeing the pitch at full speed but what is causing the latency on my end? I don't see any issues when I am on Hulu and streaming a 4K movie and that is over the wireless. Wired should be even better and I get much faster speeds when wired.

You're not really going to see anything with streaming movies and such, as they are buffered. They are lower priority internet traffic and have hiccups, but the buffering eliminates most issues.
When you are playing someone on time though, it's essentially in the moment. Latency will have a much bigger impact, than material that is buffered. -
Try setting up QoS (if your router allows it) or at the very least port forwarding

For latency, ping, jitter and packet loss are more important than speed. You could have a 1TB connection, but if you're dropping 25% of packets your ping will be through the roof.
Try a connection quality test like:

What's a good Ping and Jitter range?

My jitter was 3 ms and ping 30 ms

Ping you want below 50ms (below 20ms is ideal) and jitter and packet loss as low as possible.

Those are pretty good numbers, but what you want to do is watch for changes at different times of day, or when other people in your household are streaming, etc.
When you notice the latency issues in the game, run the test then to see if it's on your end.

Thanks, I just ran the test again wired to my laptop, 240Mbps down, 20Mbps up, jitter 3 ms and ping 30 ms

Can Ping and Jitter changeif you're hardwired compared to wireless?
My phone hits at 28 Ping and 3 Jitter.

Ping and Jitter can change from numerous reasons, including hardwired or wired.
That's why it's a good idea to retest at different times and days and with different network loads (other people streaming etc in your house)
Your ping and jitter will rarely stay at exactly the same numbers throughout a typical day.

If you see slowing while pitching that usually means the problem is on the other players end. So it has to slow you down a bit to match up with what they are seeing. At least that has been my understanding.

I’m new to all of this. Is there a link for instructions anywhere on how to set up Qos or port forwarding? I don’t want disconnects this year.
-
Search ps4 port forwarding on google, pretty simple even for networking newbies.QoS is a bit more advanced and rarely found on commercial level routers. As an example, most home routers plugged out of the box will show NAT type “medium” when playing CoD, while a ps4 on the DMZ or forwarded will display “open”

I could have sworn they put in some sort of slight delay when pitching while online a year or so ago. So it may just be the deal
