Was thinking about the recent anniversary of the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez (RIP), and I was wondering if MLB The Show could do a memorial collection of cards to pay tribute to baseball stars (current or former) who we have tragically lost too soon. The following are recent examples who come to my

    For example:

    • Jose Fernandez, as previously mentioned (1992-2016)
    • Yordano Ventura (1991-2017)
    • Tyler Skaggs (1991-2019)
    • Roy Halladay (1970-2017)

Their stats might be those at the time of their passing, or, in Halladay's case, their stats could be from the peak of their careers.

What do you think? Did I leave anyone out?

There's a lot of controversy surrounding 3 out 4 (publically, Yordanos toxicology wasn't released) of those deaths, I don't see SDS taking on that PR.

Halladay may be the exception but based on public record I don't see his wife being too inclined to share his rights.

On a side note guys; Drugs are dangerous and addictive, even things prescribed by doctors. Be careful what you put in your body and don't let yourself become dependent on any chemical for your happiness/comfort.

I don't mean to start anything here, and I'm sure you meant well with that last statement, but it's really easy to say something like that, but there is nothing to be ashamed of if someone does need help and has to take some medicine for awhile to be alright.

I didn't know snorting cocaine and boating under the influence is considered "taking some medicine for awhile to be alright!"

Roberto Clemente is tops in the parameters you mentioned hands down.

Thurman Munson comes to mind. Ed Delahanty and Addie Joss too.

It's not, I was clearly referring to " even things prescribed by doctors." portion of the statement, but you knew that and just wanted to be a [censored] about it.

130 people die each day from opiod overdose, a large portion given their first taste by doctors. Thats more of what I was referring to.

Gotcha, yeah I agree, that's a huge issue.

    Darryl Kile.

Wasn’t there another Cards pitcher after Kile who passed away unexpectedly like a year or 2 later?

I don't think it's a terrible idea at all but like someone else mentioned, not sure if SDS would want to take it on or not. With some of these players named being somewhat controversial, albeit very tragic and sad none the less. On top of that, and probably the bigger mountain to climb for SDS is obtaining the rights to these players. I don't think there is anyone out there who would have a problem or complain about a Roberto Clemente card, it's been thrown around here on the forums for years. I would think that SDS has at least looked into obtaining his rights to put him in the game but we still haven't seen it after all these years. I like the idea though of the memorial cards and remembering some of these players that we have lost though. Whether it was natural causes, a tragic accident, or due to their own recklessness, it's still very sad.

Nothing wrong with cocaine and boat rides. Very typical among adults, the rocks shouldn’t have been in the way.
