Ted Williams?

Haven’t tried him but I’m guessing it won’t be good if you benched Harper for his defensive liability...

Baseball is 90% mental, the other half is physical.
I mean, this is a video game.
so its even less physical. Its still baseball, your biggest opponent is your mind.

Also idk how much you've used Winkler or faced but he hits the ball miles. Too bad he's got -50 speed

I haven't no, I use Ted Williams

I love Ted, one of my all time faves... But there are so many options for that lefty power spot off the bench, most notably Ruth (after you pick up Gehrig), Musial, harper, Thome, Thames even Walker who's a great hitter and has better speed.

Resurrecting this thread just to say I regret not using him until now with a month left in the game. Trash defense aside, an absolutely insane swing & has won me countless of games single handedly (even though he cost me runs in those same games by not getting to a ball) 10/10 would use again in 21.

Definitely one of the best swings in MLBTS history. His defense was actually surprisingly good to me this year, he still made some plays that he would never have made in previous years. But yeah the offense is worth all of that.

I didn't pick up 20 until Black Friday, so Ted Williams wasn't a realistic option for me this year. It wasn't even the million stub price tag...it was the line. I just had my order for Goose Gossage go through today and that literally took months. It wasn't worth the trouble to flip enough to earn 1 million stubs for the privilege of waiting in line for a guy who would never start on my team.
That being said, I loved the 99 Ted Williams in 19. He was one of my top options off the bench and probably hit a homerun in half of his at-bats.

Ted starts in left. Prestiged Soto is on my bench. Ted is more reliable for me personally. I think it's because I tend to pull the ball more and Soto has the shift making that more difficult. Ted doesn't have the shift so he hits more gaps for me. Overall Soto does have more HR's per at bat, but Ted's avg is better. I'd happily put Soto 3rd if I didn't have Ted, but for me it makes more sense.

I like the comp you've mentioned between Ted & Soto, both silver D with amazing bats. Prestige Soto (Off the top of my head? Please correct If I'm mistaken) doesn't have a shift so that's evened out at that point but agree with you.

That's funny that Ted Williams doesnt have the shift against him when he was arguably one of the biggest pull hitters ever. He also was one of the first players that had the shift used against him with any regularity.
