I have been trying very hard to get better at this game. I have been switching hitting views up so much and can’t figure out what’s the best one for me.

*Seems like I’m always very late on Fastballs

    *Too early on off speed

    *Horrible with judging low pitches

*High pitches I am usually very good with

Based off of this, would anyone recommend a certain hitting view for me? And if you have the same issues and what seemed to help you?

I am not a competitive player but I would like to play the game and have fun. Not want to throw my controller through the wall every time I play lol.

Do you play on a TV or monitor? And if you’re on a TV, is it on game mode? Definitely makes a difference with pitch speeds

I like strikezone or strikezone 2. Try directional if you cant get the hand of the zone. I have used directional and actually do fairly well. I am by no means a great player but I have been able to get to the pennant race level

I can really only cover half the zone. Try guessing high or low based on what your opponent is doing and don't swing if it's not there. It will help you pick up tendencies and lay off low balls.

I use a monitor it’s a 27 BenQ I’ll put the link below for it.

I use to use directional but feel like the contact is never good, but I will try it again.

Try not to look at the pitcher’s body and look at his release point that might help your timing and pitch recognition

I struggle with taking pitches low in the zone as well. I usually use Strike Zone High, but if I'm struggling there I'll go to Strike Zone 2. I play on a 70" TV with pretty bad input lag, even in game mode, so that's a problem in and of itself. Honestly, the only times I hit well consistently is when I wait for the person I'm playing to throw 2 strikes pretty much every AB for at least 4 innings. It helps me get a read on their pitching approach, but also helps me see good and bad pitches down in the zone. My problem is I hate sitting around and waiting on that many pitches.

I switched to game mode on my LG 55 inch 4K and I raised my average from .167 to .230, which means I am hitting .300 since the switch. I also try to use the hitters I have success with and not use great hitters in the game who I struggle with. I am hitting .136 with 99 Mantle and .475 with the new 99 Tatis.

There's a game mode for TVs? I have a 2020 Samsung smart TV, so I'll have to dig around the settings and see if it has one.

I do have the picture mode set to "dynamic" all the time, though. All the other picture modes give the game a washed-out look in terms of color.

Found it and enabled game mode. I'll try it out later this afternoon 😁

This is my first year playing DD and when I first started playing RS, I was on my TV and hitting was a nightmare. I then found game mode and it made a difference. I then decided to try out a monitor as I wanted to try to be more competitive and it was even better than game mode (at least on my TV).

I was probably batting like .210 before the monitor and now the average is up to around .268-.270 (in RS). Finally made WS for the first time last season. It doesn’t help you make better swings necessarily or make up for swinging at everything, but it does make things easier if your patient and makes fastballs nothing to worry about.

I have some of the same issues with my hitting:

Seems like I’m always very late on Fastballs

    *Too early on off speed

*Horrible with judging low pitches (sliders especially)

I've only been playing since late July. Rule of Thumb is to not compare yourself to the YouTube and Twitch players. Those guys are awesome!!
