Seaver has a 20 mph gap between FB and change
-
My last ranked series game I faced seaver who had a 96 mph 4 seamer and a 76 mph circle change.
I don't recall a single pitcher in MLB history with a 20 mph difference between the fastball and changeup, likely because a grip itself is unable to account for that much difference in velocity without also slowing down the arm action. As far as I know Seaver in-game has the exact same pitching motion for both pitches.
Please consider velocity differential when creating legend cards in DD. Most of us want to play a realistic game and this just doesn't make any sense.

Wut.....?
-
Greinke has a 26 mph difference.... But i mean. Wut...
Edit. Buts thats a curveball my bad

I'm sorry, I think I misheard you. I heard...
"SDS, I'm butthurt about striking out so many times in a game. Can you make the game easier for me?"
Or did I hear you correctly?

A lot of pitchers have big differentials like that in game and in real life. Learn some history before making some dumb claim like that.

I think you are thinking of slider or something. Because a good CU is usually 20 mph or more slower than top fastball. If it isnt then those guys probably arent too reliant on it.
I do like the slime avatar though.

Greg Maddux? especially Prestige
95/96 fastball
69/70 curve -
20 mph and greater differences between change up and FB are nit the norm, but definitely some have them....and many do not have to have this great a differential for the pitch to be effective.

We are talking about a 16.4 mph difference leading the league and yet we get 26 mph gaps?

Gaps from guys who aren't in the league which is currently obsessed with high velocity. These guys actually knew how to pitch, not just throw the ball as hard as they can.

Gagne can throw a 100 in game and drop and 68-69 curve. What’s this guy talking about

You can get brain damage just from reading some of the posts on here...my goodness.

I did curveball... Oops

Guys on here are making fun, but OP is 100% correct. Gagne's vulcan change wasn't 69 MPH, his curveball was. Same with guys like Kershaw, Grienke, Oswalt. The very nature of what a changeup is, and how one throws it, makes it impossible to achieve -20 while maintaining deception. If a pitcher who throws 96 MPH had a 76 MPH change it would either (a) have a lot of top spin (curveball) or result from motion changes. It's just a video game, but there's 0% chance that Tom Seaver had 96/76 with deception. In real life he either didn't throw 96, had a faster change, or both.

I was never a pitcher (or at least not a good one), but I was a catcher through college so I picked up a few things from pitching coaches. I have never heard of a pitcher throwing a change up 26 mph slower than the 4 seam. I always heard FB - 10% = changeup. Anything slower than that and the pitcher is going to have to change their delivery so drastically that it will no longer be effective. The whole point of the changeup is that it’s supposed to look identical to the fastball. If you’re throwing 26 mph slower, then your delivery and your arm slot are going to have to change too.

These are the pitch speeds in game
Kershaw Change-85, Curve-72
Greinke change-83, Curve- 72
Oswalt Change-83, Curve 72
Gagne V change-84, Curve-71
Seaver- Change-77, Curve 73. You might have an argument for seaver, but with the rest of the names you brought up I really don’t know what some of you are on about -
