The only choice I really see here is Cobb but I'm even leaning on not even bothering with him. I've got Biggio at C and he's solid. Kershaw doesn't look like he is going to be good to me for some reason and my RF is Sheffield.
What's everyone doing here ?
-
think im going to sell who ever i pick and buy that Ted Williams card. He looks like a beast
-
I won't make 300 stars but my pick would be Kershaw, and Cobb is a close second. Pudge is awful.
-
I have yet to get it going with Cobb, loved him last year so giving him extended time to put it together. Pudge has yet to let a passed ball by him, but can't hit his weight. And Kershaw is ok.

It seems like overall ALL catchers are better at blocking this year... which was a big improvement. So I don't know if Pudge having elite Defense it that big of a selling point for me. Especially since it is almost too easy to steal a base sometimes.

Yeah, I def see a difference between him and say Posada behind the plate, but if you already have a good defensive guy, he's not with the upgrade bc of his bat.
-
I just got Cobb last night but am yet to play a game with him. Looking forward to trying him out. IMO having a catcher with elite defense is a tad overrated unless you're just all over the place pitching. So Pudge doesn't appeal to me that much. Catchers in general are much better this year blocking balls in the dirt. You can get by with silver and gold defense. Kershaw (I really hate to say it) suffers in the upper levels of RS without a 97+ mph heater and lack thereof having a sinker. I really hate that this is kind of a determining factor for elite pitchers online, but ive struggled to use anyone at 500-600 or higher without those 2 perks.
-
I have all three and Cobb is a monster. Last game I had 2 homers and 7 rbis off lefties in RS.

I bought him and then sold him as his defense was really bad for me. Hes so slow getting to balls. His hitting was great though.
-
Cobb is a monster... But what's everyones problem with Pudge? I picked him up, starting him, hitting 500 ish with him with some bombs and his D and arm are beasty... What am I missing?

Lots of scratch for a bench bat. I'd like to pick him up, he's one of my fave players ever, and honestly his D was pretty underrated, it wasn't great but not as bad as everyone thinks. But can't justify the coin.
-
Kersh is the move, buy cobb if you're so inclined imo

I also have Biggio at C and Sheffield in RF. I've played the Showdown a couple times and Cobb has not impressed me yet (small sample size, I know.) I absolutely loved Kershaw last year, and I am hoping this one will be the same.
All that being said, I'll probably pick Cobb. Those numbers are just too good to pass up, and I was born and raised a Tigers fan leading to a little bias. -
Cobb has been great for me so far! Small sample size, but I'm hitting .379 with him. Dont sleep on his power! I have 3 hr's and I'm under 30 ab's
-
Yeah Cobb is a no brainer pick IMO
-
Not even sure I will get 300 stars. I had a cooking accident on Saturday and have a couple second degree burns on my fore finger and thumb so I put myself on the IL. Cobb looks like a better Ellsbury though.
-
Yup. Cobb is the choice for me and it’s not even close in my opinion.

Be careful, man.

I’ve had Cobb for a weekish now, I think I’ve logged 5ish ranked games with him in the 550-7 range. He’s been excellent, a few clutch homeruns, a triple or two and superior speed in the outfield and on the bases.
I had Ruth in left and kept Thames at first because I love both those bats so much. Ruth is lf def hurt me in a lot of games so I had to bench Thames. And out Cobb in LF. Very glad I did except I still miss Thames lol, I have hit a few clutch PH bombs w him tho so there’s that.
Also on pudge, I had him all year last year and never found anyone as good. People crapped on him last year too and I don’t get it, he’s a monster hitting and beat D in the game at the position, only problem is he’s slow, so hard for me to take biggio out for him. I want red kershaw even though I won’t use him much, but in a clutch run to ws he might be useful for a few innings to fill in, or he’ll he might be Maddux good!

Shuffled sucks imo. I'm going to give Cobb a shot and replace Walker. Move him to the bench.
