This Game Stinks!

Online is a very unpleasant experience this year. The latency issues are bad, especially if you are the road team, baserunning isn’t great, fielding has taken a step back, especially in the corners and then there are the exploiting bunt dancing, lag switching opponents I have to deal with. This game is great offline, but online is a different story. I think SDS is aware of this because a couple of streams back when Flores requested a way to get prestige players without playing online, the look on the face of the SDS team was priceless.
-
I appreciate all the positive responses. People who are agreeing and actually seeing and experiencing what I am. There is something seriously wrong with this game online.
I have seen while pitching to the other player. The ball seems to approach the batter much slower, yet when my opponent is pitching me. The speed of the game is so much faster. Something causes this. Is it a gaming router? Connection? Internet speed? What?
All I know is, there are HUGE disadvantages many players are faced with. More then skill set and/or cards being used.
No... I did not miss a stub/pack sale. OP is doing fine in that department.
I just feel this community needs to expose SDS, Ramone and the rest of these thoughtless developers at Sand Diego Studios.
What are they doing on the game play side of this game. The updates make the game worse in the long run. I could go down a list a mile long.
I feel the top tier players are good at this game, yes but I also feel they have an advantage, by some which way that most of us are not aware of, having better connection, software, or some sort of edge that us less tech savvy players don't know of.
Since this game has transitioned over to PS4 there has been connection, lag, timing issues that have destroyed the integrity of this game and its online experience.
Graphics and content are much, much, very much different than connection and game speeds.
And I am happy with the graphics and content, especially this year. BUT...... BUT..... BUT.....
So for the TROLLS who want to say I don't know what I am talking about or that I lack skill set. So what, you can have an opinion. But I believe you are very wrong with your observation. I have seen more virtual pitches then most as I have played this game since World Series Baseball 95 and even before that Nintendo Bases Loaded... But who cares right. RIGHT!
But it is time to EXPOSE San Diego. You guys can change this. Make it fair. Creating a way to adjust this late swing problem when we push the button early but still either no swing or late when it is, AGAIN the button is being pressed early at the pitcher's point of release.
Get it right! That's all!

Online latency issues are probably the only REAL issues with this game this year. It caused me to almost completely stop online play. But dont confuse that with server or other gameplay issues. Because they have done well there.

I dont think that is true. In 2016 and 2017 the servers sucked really bad and they changed that up in 2018 and everything was great. Most random disconnects and drops stopped. The lag and timing issue has just recently started. 2019, and it is because the software developed is too much for this crappy hardware. As a console you have to just be used to that. I think the PS5 will stomp out most issues. But after a couple years, yes, they will probably return unless there is a way to upgrade. Just my observation.

The content is great and the graphics are decent, really no change in the last four years but a little clean up in colors and fine detail.
But there is dropped frames and latency issues. AND WE SEE IT, AND SDS KNOWS THIS!
The response times are ridiculously inconsistent.
I play this game because I like baseball. But online is straight up a horrible experience. I MEAN HORRIBLE
No disrespect to SDS. But this game needs a lot of work on how it holds up when it is being played peer to peer, MEANING ONLINE.
I have addressed this with them at SDS for many years. Still, they make a game that cannot deliver online capabilities.
I do not see it getting any better with cross compatibility coming soon. I wish it was different. But.... wishing only gets your expectations high and leads to disappointment.
Keep wishing for a better game. But it is not going to happen folks. THATS ALL!
I think you need a river bed for all your tears

I have tissue. Much absorption.

These two points above. First of all, your opponent also sees the ball slower when he’s pitching. That’s been the way the game has worked, by design, for years. It’s not a case of you’re seeing the pitches come in super fast when hitting but your opponent is seeing the ball at veteran difficulty offline speeds when he’s hitting. The ball does appear slower when pitching, for everyone.
The second paragraph, you just described input lag down to a tee. If you’re playing on a TV put it in game mode. Or try a monitor. They’re like £25 used where I live for a basic HD monitor that will eliminate that issue completely.

Graphics are decent? Lol what? Graphically this game looks great.

Patience man....they will get it right I think after they saw what's happened to madden and fifa. The jig is up baby !! It took years for madden and fifa to get exposed.
What some of us are seeing early is the tip of the iceberg....as the years go by Sds will get greedy and expose itself more and more....relax everyone knows you can only cut corners for so long ....patience young padawan lol

I have a monitor ASUS 248QE 1mz and trace free.. this game is still garbage response.

Something seems wrong from
your description. I’m a terrible hitter and I am often found to be late on fastballs. That said, I haven’t had that handicapped feeling where it seems like no matter what you do you can’t swing early enough to pull a fastball for a while. When I did, it was down to my display settings. I’m not calling you an idiot, but are you sure you’re not missing something? -
Disappointed at the lack of "git gud" comments in this thread

Four more online strikeouts with Maddux. Then he’s prestige, I get Trout, and won’t have to play online for a long time

MIC DROP....

As bad as this game is online, let’s try not to blame Ramone or the rest of the SDS community guys. It’s not their fault, and they are just pushing the message handed down by corporate. They know the issues with the game and are pro frustrated by all the people harping on them.

I agree totally!! It sucks that sds has the rights and this is the only option for baseball fans!! They obviously seem to put zero effort into game play!!
Still blows Madden out of the water though... It’s actually a good game engine...

Offline is the most important to me, they need to really dive into franchise mode and make it great for the future... Online always kinda sucks..

Well, we don’t disagree on the P2P connections making the game play badly online. As I said, I wasn’t trying to insinuate that you were some kind of noob with display settings, or that you were wrong about the state of online play. You’d be surprised how many people don’t utilise the correct settings and have difficulty as a result. I was only trying to make some helpful suggestions. No offence intended.

Peer to peer is the problem, you're playing on the home teams internet. If there using wifi or have mediocre internet the game will play very bad, swinging will feel off, pitching etc.
Not much they can fix with this engine it's tapped out to it's full capacity. Hopefully with next gen consoles alot of these gm flaws will be a thing of the past.
Hoping the 1st installment on PS5 will be gd but I have little faith in it. Took them 2 yrs if I'm correct maybe 3 to realize the power of the PS4.
Let's hope they learned from that!! IMO -
I like the game ️
