Is there a way to sidestep?

I noticed when playing the CPU they pitchers can "break out the sidestep" making it a little more challenging to get a steal...unless its one of the big steal guys... Can I not sidestep when pitching?

Keep in mind that some pitchers can do it without runners on base, but most (especially SP) can only slidestep when there are runners on the bases.
