Swing Timing in RS
-
Why does timing seem to never be consistent in RS. All other online modes seem to be consistent. I see the biggest inconsistencies once games are played on HOF.
I only notice this in RS. If I play a friend or online rated with HOF or Legend settings the timing seems consistent across the board from game to game.
But in ranked seasons...using HOF settings for example:
Game 1 - Game play feels true to what I’m seeing and how the my controller input matches up to timing windows. I have the ability to read and swing with my pci
Game 2 - High velocity pitches are next to impossible to hit unless I purposely try to swing super early. Off speed has a super slow timing window. Ability to read and swing with the PCI is nearly impossible. Basically reduces me to a guess hitter.
What’s the deal with this? Is it because of online lag? Is it a ping issue? I don’t experience this in other online modes though. A developer response would be appreciated.
-
It’s a connection issue between you and your opponent. The ping and what not. I notice this all the time. I don’t even bother to play if it’s lagging and in late on everything. I’d rather just take the L than get pissed off about it.
-
Yeah if I didn't want to prestige some guys and do the objectes that require online play I would totally steer clear of RS.

Connection issues are the main culprit.

Timing windows are not the same for each player this year. I've noticed the feedback window showing the bat path changes in size based off of contact and/or vision ratings. The good window is smaller for weaker hitters. Perfect timing is most likely neutral, but margin for error changes based on attributes.
-
Swing animations for cards vary. I use similar swings for players so I don't have to adjust much from AB to AB. I will never use Mike Schmidt for example.
-
-
It’s connections. I can go from being early on dibble one game, to have to sell out on a FB from Greg Maddox the next.
-
I have had the same issue in RS. It's like every third game the fastball is coming in at 125mph. In these games it is nearly impossible to hit a high velocity fastball. I have had games where I swing as soon as the pitcher releases and I'm still late. The servers on this game or whatever must be terrible... I play this about 3 months a year and Madden about 9 months a year and I have NEVER had issues with Madden lagging affecting gameplay. This year I got the beta and I played 1 BR game and the lag was so bad in that game, I never touched it again. This game would probably be able to keep me away from Madden if H2H wasnt so bad. I like H2H mostly and this game is awesome except H2H lag is ridiculous... I feel like I'm playing online in 1997 with this game. I know it's not my internet because the show is the ONLY thing that I have ever had issues with.

I just wish there was a way to know if you’re gonna get in a game like that lol

Here’s an interesting one. I’ve heard that hitting is essentially offline.and the everything syncs back up after you make contact.
That’s why you see slow down on your end when you pitch and a stutter after a ball is put into play. ️

I know they slow your pitching down to allow the server to collect your input. This way when the pitch goes to the batter it comes in smoothly with no teleporting or stuttering

I would LOVE to see my ping when in a RS game.. That way I know if I am getting [censored] or just suck that day.
-
P2P play. Biggest problem with this game. Server hosted games at higher levels at least would be nice in RS, but it will never happen, the cost involved would not increase profits
-
RS is complete garbage. Trying to prestige a couple of pitchers and when people quit after 1 inning, it depletes the pitcher’s energy. That’s just one of many issues making it unplayable for me at this point.

That is definitely one of the low points of the stamina issue. Just going to have to wait until whichever SP/RP you want to prestige is finally available via events. No way around that now unfortunately.

My opinion is that if SDS gave more effort into gameplay like they do content, the games would play better. Early and late are rewarded more then perfect perfect or good good. I mean hitting a major league pitcher should be hard , but when your not rewarded for your effort constantly and t sucks

If I notice some input lag when I’m choosing my pitcher I back out immediately and look for another game
