It's working in your favor just as much as against you. Nobody ever complains they win games that swung in their favor for no reason... because when it helps you, it's your skill. There's definitely some type of manipulation in this game, but it's clear to me it works both ways. It doesn't prevent you from wins... it only makes it more challenging. If it only prevents wins to good players, why are the same guys always at the top? Is it because they get free wins because they are TERRIBLE? True story... if your losing to terrible players consistently, you aren't very good.... because I'm not very good and I can overcome RNG versus a terrible player. I always laugh at the guys who believe the game is only out to get them, because of their high skill level.

There is no such thing as RNG

If only user input mattered this would be a really, really boring game. There would be almost no difference from one diamond card to the next, one challenge to the next, etc. The ‘RNG’, or whatever it really is, is the reason this game is playable for more than a few minutes. Nobody promised you an ultra competitive sim even though for some reason you expected one.

It seems to me that there's some type of momentum meter, we just can't see it. I have some hope after a game I just played against a guy ranked in the 800's (I was 650ish). Obviously he came down to my level and should have shelled me. He didn't. we both 2 hit eachother tied up 1-1 going into the later innings, I ended pinch hitting Ruth and getting a single and hitting a homer with trout to go up 3-1. shut him down in the 8th... And then, he couldn't miss... he hit a solo shot I end up giving up the game winning homer on an inside edge pitch with a fresh gagne out of the pen. After he got the initial HR I knew it was over, it seem like that just loads the momentum meter. I got 2 more outs, even threw out a guy trying to stretch to 3rd off a single and I hoped that would kill momentum... but nope.
With that said, I just played a guy who'll likely make hall of fame and while I wouldn't say I dominated him I feel like I had the edge in play, perhaps he just managed whatever the game does to influence outcomes better. I really do kind of feel like there's a secret here, and some guys have figured it out, as stupid as it sounds.

OP doesn’t realize that the same names show up on top of the leaderboards year after year. By his logic, they must be terrible at the game if it lets them win all the time ️
Same people with the same internet year after year. Implement ping based match making and pitching_rebel doesn't sniff 200-20 or whatever that ridiculous [censored] clubbing baby seals record is. He is playing slow pitch softball. His input actually matters. He would more than likely still be a good player but 95 would actually look like 95 instead of 85 to him. Could he adjust to the faster pitching? Somebody else would actually be #1. No, not me but someone would take his spot guaranteed.

I've watched rebels streams and in no way does his pitches coming in look like slow motion like you claim ALL THE TIME. I've watched numerous good players and then other players and their pitch speeds are very similar. Don't you get tired of posting the same nonsense year after year? Why do you even stay?

Why does the RNG (or however you want to refer to the artificial code that splatters often misleading (fake) animation on your screen) feel obliged to give games away to new players..or just ppl that are terrible...have terrible lineups...at the expense of the rest of us? I use the word terrible, but you could say they blow, are unlearned, new, slow, whatever.
Do we deserve this stupid [censored]? We laid down our bucks for this game. We play these modes to win...not to lose. Play a lot, grind away to get better. Why code your game so those of us that really care (or used to)..lose to those that really don't? Why cheat us out of our money? And, that's the way I look at it. Swindling the customer with good intentions...with bad code that, I assume, is intentionally creating parity in the game.
When the RNG completely turns a game..putting any pitfalls it can in the path of a player/customer that deserves to win the game...it's the same as cheating the customer. The game is a mockery of MLB quite often.
Why can't we talk about important subjects like this instead of how great some new challenge is that give you yet another card that really makes no difference in this game?
Is discussing the failures of the game, in hopes somebody out there in SDS land can reinvent it so the customer doesn't get stressed and write scathing posts like this, not a worthy point of discussion?
I can tell you why...this forum is all about creating a false illusion that the game is a competition...not the RNG controlled charade it is.
Can you please re-write this into a 500 word essay - I will grade you once its submitted thanks mate

There absolutely is, every video game ever made has rng somewhere. Now believing it's some grand conspiracy to keep good players down is another discussion.

Original marios never had rng. Same game every single time.

What you just wrote is probably correct. I win as much as I lose. Perhaps a little above .500. But, letting the game dictate whose turn it is to win isn't fun is it?
I mean, for argument sake, let's say the code steers the wins/losses, but attempts to create parity. Where is the fun in that?
The attraction of this game, any game as far as that goes, is the satisfaction of knowing you won/lost because you're better/worse.
Not because the software is working behind the scenes to create an animation that rewards some games...screws you other games.
IF you're worse and need to work on things you do that...spend your hours..get better. In real life you are rewarded with practice and time spent. But, not in this game and it's horribly frustrating.
That's not what competition is about.

I'll say it again for the people on the back. The people who come on here and complain about RNG are average players who think they should be top players and find every excuse in the book to explain away the fact that the same guys are at the top every year. You aren't as good as you think you are, its hard for a lot of people to come to terms with but its true for most of us.

Agree with first sentence, completely disagree with second. In MLB, the worst team is still going to win 50 games a season.
I can tell you why...this forum is all about creating a false illusion that the game is a competition...not the RNG controlled charade it is.
I didn’t check (on phone) but it sounds like you may be new to the forum? If anything the volume of posts on this forum over the past couple of years claiming balancing outcomes have the opposite effect of the forum creating false illusion. Rest assured, many people here feel your pain.
I'm just confused by it. You see some ppl implying that it's lag. Same sort of suggestions I used to read on the FIFA and Madden boards when the game experience when sideways.
I guess, bottom line, I really like this game sometimes. Some games really do "appear" to be legit. Whether I win or lose. But, the last couple nights there wasn't one game of the 8 or so I played that had any semblance of reality.
I wanna believe it's just a hiccup like network lag. But, I've heard those same excuses so much on all these gaming forums that I can only believe it's just the way RNG sports games work. It's not at all lag.
Just frustrating. The very reason I quit playing Madden and FIFA is because the head-to-head online games were obviously dictated by code.
I was an all-conference 2B and hit .510 my senior year (.250 my Freshman year so the capacity is there to get better with practice). I know my eye/reflexes are fine. I'm pretty successful at online FPS's. So I like to think I'm pretty solid with a controller.
But, these online sports games pretending to be simulations...just don't play out that way.
Done ranting...all it gets me are a bunch of smart-asses, trolls, and fan-boys blaming it on my gameplay.
I agree in MLB the worst team will win 50 games. That's less than 1/3 of the games played (except this year) though. That's pretty terrible so, no offense, didn't get your point about that one.

Sure am frustrated. Probably not the most intelligent thing to do when someone is throwing a fit is to mock them. I mean, whatever ppl want to do, but you have to expect the frustrated person is going to
be pretty sensitive to smart-as$'s. -
Most games I lose Im either outclassed or not able to lock in, yeah it is true you get perfect/perfect line outs but as long as im making good contact, I know eventually I'll start scoring. Now on those bad days I know exactly what Im doing wrong (jamming my pic, reacting late to the pitch, not adjusting, etc) most importantly I don't care much about my record anymore, win or lose I try to play my own game and enjoy "Im the type of guy that would replay your HR"

I don't disagree with any of that. But, that is nothing even similar to my gripe. But, again, you have a valid point...just doesn't cover this:
These RS matches...and they are all too often..where you have a lineup that is, on average, about 10 rating points per player across the board higher than your opponent. The opponent's pitcher is 80-rated Yu Darvish. You can't hit Yu Darvish with a team of 90+ rated batters.
80% of my swings were either good or perfect. When you're playing a much lower rated pitcher you would expect good swings to not only be rewarded, but be rewarded on a much larger scale than when squaring up on 90+ rated pitchers.
Your opponent, meanwhile, will literally swing at any pitch. In the dirt, above the head, in the stands. The opponent is a 23 Bronze. Obviously just not good. Maybe good someday, but not at all good last night.
You then lose the game because of animation that doesn't even attempt to be realistic...knowing...I mean knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt the script gave your win to your opponent because of some silly parity thing. Or whatever.
One experience like that is enuf for anyone to blow up.

Re read your post. You are comparing apples to oranges when you say the worst MLB team will win 50 games. The worst MLB team is still made up of MLB players..for the most part.
Someone new to MLB the Show with a team of mainly gold cards against someone that has played a whole lot with a team of diamonds should be a lot like the Dodgers playing a double-A team. Real Madrid playing Atlanta FC.
In high school we had a football team in our Conference that never won a game in my high school career they were so bad.
There was another team so good in baseball that we played 20 times over the years and we always lost. And we were a decent team that won the conference my senior year. So, yeah, there are teams so bad that they don't win...ever.
