Problem with Tatis grand slam while up big?
-
I didn't have one problem with this, the Rangers had 2 innings to score runs. Teams have scored more in less time and the Pads need wins.
Sorry if this has been posted
Edit: Those Tatis'es and their grand slams lol
-
no i have no problem with it at all. They are major league grown [censored] men getting their panties in a bunch over an "unspoken rule". If you dont want my best hitter hitting a grand-slam on your sorry [censored] while we are clobbering you then dont load the bases and pitch right to him. Theres no mercy rule. I want to destroy you. I want to be in your head the next time we play. Advantage me already

This is the stupidest thing ever. What’s he supposed to do? Just half swing? The players play for stats and big paying contracts. Swing away
-
Dumbest thing I saw that Woodward was upset. It's never been uncommon to swing at a 3-0 pitch, regardless of runners on or not. You know you'll probably get a strike. Also, managers give the green light a lot on 3-0. Woodward has no reason to complain!! Basic baseball strategy!

No problem at all.

I think the problem was more internal with the coach. he gave the take sign and Tatis swung away. Should not have been a big deal just house keeping stuff between player and coach. But now a days you fart and your whole graduating class will know before you ecn even smell it
-
Go for it
-
Only problem is with him ignoring the take sign. I don't believe it should have been given, but it was and you know he saw it.
-
Players need to try to hit productively every at bat because of the way arbitration works. If Tatis hits 39 homers & say Lindor hit 40, The Padres would absolutely argue that he shouldn’t get Lindor money because he didn’t hit 40. Believe that!
-
Ask the San Francisco Giants how well huge leads hold up, Tatis was fine swinging away.
-
I am all for old school unwritten rules, but seriously, i don't get the outrage for this one.
-
I'm going to start sending messages to my opponents asking them not to swing at 3-0 pitches when I'm down 8-0 with the bases loaded. Maybe they'll rage quit.
-
Nope. I was a pitcher that took offense with stealing up big, but never understood this whole "dont swing 3-0" garbage. I never just grooved one believing they shouldnt swing.
I'm old school in some of my beliefs, but this is plain stupid.
-
Only issue is that he should have listened to his coach.
Otherwise, if you serve up a meatball, it is going to get eaten.
-
Copy pasted from my last post.
Swing the [censored] bat. If he hits it and blasts it out, he did better than you. He executed his ability to put the bat on the ball. If you complain about your guy getting showed up on a 3-0 pitch, you're soft as [censored]. Its a [censored] Major League game, this isn't little league with 6 year olds where we want all the kids to have a good time and just learn the game. This is a competitive player trying to make his contract bigger, trying to make his team a contender, trying to get his name in the record books.
If you have a problem with any of that, go back to coaching little league where you can tell all your boys they did great out there regardless of the score. You can sit down with the kids and enjoy a juice box.
Tatis [censored] owned that pitcher.

I don’t have a problem with it at all. You gotta think though this is the same organization that started a fight over a bat flip in the previous season after making 3 errors in a row that caused said bat flip to happen in the first place. I have no sympathy for the rangers whatsoever. Speaking of rangers fans why do you all hate Cruz so much for 1 error when he single handedly beat Detroit the previous series?
-
If you watch the replay, from one angle you can see Machado in the on-deck circle and he has this defeated, “are you kidding me?” look because he already knows he’s about to wear one.
-
Every at bat is an opportunity to show why you're worth the bag of money.
I don't care what the score is, if I'm up and the pitcher can't throw me a strike and leaves one hanging, you better believe I'm swinging out of my shoes in an attempt to hit it to Jupiter. I'll take those 4 RBI, increase on my OPS and SLG because it matters once my contract comes up. I couldn't care less about these "unwritten rules" and your feelings. It would be different if you're breaking up a no hitter late game by laying down a bunt. That's also an unwritten rule, one that I personally respect. But even if that happens, that's fine and move on. Not an official rule, no harm no foul.

That's another one I completely disagree with. A batters job is to get on base any way they can. I dont see why hitters should only be allowed to swing for gaps or HRs just because they haven't had one fall in yet.

Well like I said, it's one that I personally respect but wouldn't get upset over if it does happen.
