Im skipping Madden at launch this year. The franchise mode was ignored AGAIN. I can play 20 with updated rosters and real draft classes. I know the current games problems and have either mitigated or learned to deal with them. Im just not giving EA a dollar for a game that has obviously been squirted out with minimal effort (like they always do the year before new consoles launch) just for a new MUT and 10 minutes of mediocre cut scenes for Face of the Franchise.
As for MUT vs DD -- its not even a contest. DD is a far fairer, less scummy way to monetize your game. I cant even follow the multiple levels of grift going on in MUT sometimes. DD is about wanting your favorite players new card, MUT is about needing new cards to keep up with the meta and compete online.....at least thats what its felt like.
Regardless, The Show is my jam, and ill stick with it for the foreseeable future. If they drop the content continually like they did last year, i may end up playing until Xmas again.
Madden will be on sale in a couple weeks anyway. If it somehow ends up being so good i just cant fight the temptation, ill get it on discount.
Plus its our last year of Playstation exclusivity with The Show. Who knows what happens when the game goes multi-platform.....im going to enjoy this last pristine edition as long as possible.
Madden is more of a cash grab, but it's more challenging. I played the Show two years for two months each year as and have a winning record in RS both years. Madden I've played 10x more than the show and it's much more of a challenge to win online consistently.... this year was my first year ever in mut with a losing record in h2h. To be good in madden, you have to spend more time grinding and practicing by a lot compared to the show. You cant just pick up madden and start winning online, where the show you can.

I think I am out after Madden drops. No good knuckleballers all year.
And if that’s why you’re leaving then my opinion, that I’m sure will be shared by many here is, see ya don’t let the door hit you on the back side on your way out cheeseball!!! One cheeser down, now we just need the other toxic players to exit stage left. I know it won’t happen but it’s nice to dream.
Talk about toxic. Good thing I don't give a rats a** about your garbage opinion. The knuckleball has a history in MLB. I am sure you are ok with high sinkers and starters out of the pen. Bottom line is there is no need to attack someone who has a different opinion.
Yeah the knuckleball has a long history of being a gimmick. How many Hall of Famers feature that pitch, please tell me how many. I can count one and he is called a knuckleballer because he had one in his arsenal but it wasn’t used like how Wakefield used his or that trash Steven Wright used his. Niekro has other plus pitches. So again, in this game it’s a cheese pitch used by people who don’t want to learn to pitch with normal pitchers. Btw I love it when someone uses them, I kill knuckleballers. It just cheese junk to imho and many others will say the exact same thing!!!
First off dipsh*t there are at least 4 HOF pitchers who primarily threw the knuckleball: Hoyt Wilhelm, Ted Lyons, Jesse Haines and Phil Niekro. Niekro's primary pitch was the knuckleball. That's the reason he pitched into his late 40s. Lastly you have a lot of posts talking about sinkers. You know that the repeated throwing of high sinkers is the biggest exploit in this game. So looks like you are one big ol hypocrite.
So let me get this straight, you’re argument that the knuckleball isn’t a gimmick is based on 4 Hall of Famers, 3 of which aren’t even considered modern era pitchers and would not be Hall of Famers in today’s day and age And the other, whom I actually watched pitch, in Phil Niekro and know for a fact that he didn’t completely rely on that pitch until late in his career. That’s your argument. Then accuse me of using sinker exploits. Well for you info I love the sinker. And the sinker isn’t a gimmick the knuckleball is. And in a video game it’s cheese. Have a good day sir!!!
You’re old enough to have seen Phil Niekro pitch and are getting this worked up on a video game forum?
Can't blame the guy. The knuckleball is such an infuriating pitch.

Awesome, I knew you overused the sinker. It's funny how one little pitch triggers guys like you.
Is the sinker a gimmick? Please justify your response
To juxtapose your knuckleball argument, how many HOFs relied on the high sinker?

Throwing the sinker high & in is a gimmick. I don’t think I ever saw Maddux throw one high in his entire career. The sinker is a pitch that is always thrown low in the zone.
Thank you for that response. Guarantee you that Orel Hershiser didn't throw up in an in sinkers 50 percent of the time. I have that guy on block so I cannot see the inane prattle coming out of his mouth.

You called it...He’s now claiming Maddux’s signature pitch was a high & in sinker lol...DONE lol

Yeah it wasn't a nasty changup or his baseball IQ that made Maddux great. It was the up and in sinker.

Madden is MUCH more challenging online than The Show, You are correct there. I’m 42 games over .500 in DD and I’m not a good player at all lol

Hey bud, you do realize that if you had blocked me, I wouldn’t be seeing your responses. And I never said I use the up and in sinker thing. I simply said I love the sinker. However a sinker thrown high in the Strikezone is simply just a two seam fastball. I can’t name a pitcher in this game that has both a two seamer and a sinker in their pitch arsenal. That is also not me saying their isn’t one, I just can’t think of one. So again please justify the sinker as being a gimmick.

Even though I think the show is much better in terms of gameplay and in DD vs MUT, I'll probably switch over to madden for the most part until madden starts getting stale for me when I'll come back to the show a bit.
Even tgough I like the show better and do enjoy the team building experience in modes like DD, I like the game a heck of a lot more early on before everyone has super teams so I'd like to enjoy madden before that happens

Yeah you’re not ignorant or anything. Where in any of my post did I say Greg Maddux’s signature pitch was a high sinker. I recall mentioning a tailing two seamer but not a high sinker. You can word manipulate all day long, but it doesn’t make it correct No matter how you spin it.

ARE U KIDDING? PLEASE TELL ME U ARE JOKING?? i owned every madden up till 18. EA SPORTS IS THE WORSE COMPANY OUT THERE! they have killed madden ! Mut is horrible! It used to be my favorite game then it just kept getting worse and all EA cares about is money! Greed! They can't even make a good football video game ! It's beyond trash ! I can't believe anyone plays madden anymore its horrible! Hey let's have 10 randy moss and pay 2 million for a 91 moss in Sept! Lol. Mut/ madden is [censored] brutal

As long as I’ve been playing games, my PS4 has never got emotional about me switching between them so I assume I’ll do that like I always have. If you wanna hit some dingers play MLB, if you wanna take someone’s head off play madden, you wanna dunk on fools play NBA. No need to get emotional about it lol

There are good games out/coming out that I'll be playing. For sports, it's baseball and golf (new sequel to Golf Club in 10 days I think). I don't care for Madden or NBA, personally. I bought Ghost of Tsushima and that is fantastic. CyberPunk is due in November, which will take a lot of my time. I'll play some baseball/golf here and there, but taking my time currently in Ghost and will do so in CyberPunk as well. I'm torn on the Avengers game. It's a good time to be a gamer.
Dude Avengers too. September

Last year I stopped playing when madden came out. Idk about this year. I might just play when the new inning comes out each month

I'm a much bigger NFL fan, but you can't even call Madden a football game, because it doesn't play like football if Tres Way is the best QB in the game and nobody passes. It's sort of a rugby/football hybrid game with an NFL skin.
I agree with your general message but you took one year and extrapolated it to the game in all years. Name a year, other than M20, where you could win a game with a punter at QB. I will wait.
What a horrible defense. Considering the most efficient event installment of the game did not even include the quarterback position, what they've done in the past is irrelevant. It's not a football game.
Bad deflection. Clearly you cannot answer the question. I can come up with many examples of trash madden gameplay without resorting to "Punter at QB" for a single year.
Madden has had so many problems for years, and the latest installment eliminated the quarterback position. Its officially not even a football game anymore and you dont want to mention that.
Stop it. Get some help.

Dude I have a 98 overall MUT team and only spent money ONE time all year and I didn’t have to do it, I just got excited when Troy Polamalu dropped and I wanted him right away...Other than that one bundle I didn’t spend a dine. I don’t see how people can say Madden is a money suck and the show isn’t. If you do your solos, play weekend league & play solo battles you make plenty of coins to never have to spend a dime - And you don’t have to be an elite player to do it. I usually went 15-10 in weekend league and had plenty of coins to build a great team. If you like the Show better then cool man but don’t tell lies about Madden. It is very easy to be NMS.

I don't play Madden. I'm wondering how you can compare the two and say one is a better game? It's an entirely different sport.
It’s not sport vs sport, It’s the structure of MUT vs the structure of DD....MUT is way better in so many ways. Just a few examples...
You can earn tons of coins every week just playing the weekly modes - Solo battles & Weekend League...The Show doesn’t offer anything like that. In the show unless you’re a great player that can go 12-0 or make WS or spend tons of time working the market you’re not gonna make a lot of coins easily.
In MUT most good players have a power up card that starts as around a 70 overall that you can spend training on to build them up to a high 90’s card. In DD you are completely at the mercy of what SDS drops to you.
In MUT you can increase your team’s attributes by adding different types of chemistry to the team, stadiums, uniforms & coaches.
And the gameplay...You don’t have the RNG that you have in the show. The only RNG is when non user controlled players like a offensive tackle & a pass rusher are fighting.
Dude I laughed my [censored] off at this. Been a long time MUT player and first time DD player. Madden sux bro. The whole upgrade process is beyond expensive and an 85 CB still catches up to a 99 receiver. Don’t get me started with online. Have you played weekend league. All they do is run 2 plays all game no skill what so ever. DD is all skill. If you can’t hit ain’t no magic stretch play will make you better. Enjoy the cheese I’m staying here
No offense man but if you can’t stop someone running stretch run over & over then you’re obviously not a very good online player. That works on subpar players but good players will shut that down quickly. That’s ok though - MUT isn’t for everyone. Enjoy DD.
yea no one said i cant stop it. I said that's all the game is. But good luck in Reading class its not for everyone

Played the Tar out of madden 19 and 20. I decided to try this and I never looked back.
1 thing I really loved playing was house rules but they were so few and far between that I was bored alot. Events in this game are generally pretty quick and fun to play, plus rs isn't limited to the weekends like wl (which is difficult to fit playing time in if you have a family)
Oh hell yea man i loved HR but did not happen to often this year
-
Nope. mLB all year, even though I’m not really any good. I just enjoy the game.

Haven't played madden in years... However, i might put down MLB for NHL in October or so...
