Not Completing the LS Collection
-
This is my first year playing DD and I just got started with it about 2 months ago. So far I haven’t had any luck pulling any of the big LS cards from packs unlocked from in-game achievements.
I’ve thought about trying to complete the collection to get Mantle, but don’t want to drop a lot of money on stubs to get it done. I’ve been able to field a competitive team and have questioned whether I really need to do it at this point. Just curious to hear from others who have either not completed the collection or have chosen not to because of time/money/etc. and are happy not to do it.
Obviously if I get lucky with a couple of pulls I’d consider selling a few of my bigger cards to attempt it, but otherwise I’ll probably let it be. Do you feel the same?

Opening packs you get for free by completing missions and such is fine, but people who finish collections without spending money typically don't buy packs. They either sell off rewards, flip cards on the market, or both. It was easier in years past since you could quick sell locked in diamonds, but it should still be manageable.
-
You don’t have to complete the live collection to enjoy the game. This is my 4th year being involved with DD, and I completed the LS collection for the first time last year very late in the game.
Fortunately I was able to get more availability with working stubs for profit and completed the collection about a month ago or so.
It just takes a lot of concentration to complete the LS collection. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t happen. If you want it to happen, find ways to earn stubs with your inventory to figure it out, but it’ll have to be your main objective if you want it done faster.

Sorry, meant buying stubs to buy the more expensive LS players, not packs. I haven’t bought one before and don’t plan to.

I wouldn’t do that. If I bought stubs, I would buy stubs to make more stubs by playing the market.
The only way I would buy stubs to complete the collection is if the bigger cards were dirt cheap from a market crash or something.

I wasn’t going to do live series collection either to get mantle but I got up to 500k just by playing the game, selling off inning bosses, and I got lucky pulling degrom. Then I did every team affinity and with the free packs I was able to pull Trout twice. I got up to like 1.5 million stubs. Haven’t spent money on this game all year

Nice! I’m more than content not completing the collection, but if something like this happened to me I’d certainly reconsider and sell off what I needed to get the other cards I’m missing. I’ve only pulled 3 diamond players so far but unfortunately they’ve been the lower diamonds
-
Yea I started last month man. without getting lucky pulling one of the big cards it just doesn’t seem worth it at this point. I am completing the LS collections as I go just for the different cards and the XP. XP reward path has some nice rewards so seems better concentrating on completing what you can and buying who you want to use. Like if I pull a low diamond or a gold I’ll see how much more I need to complete the set but I don’t rush. Just saved up enough to buy Ripken jr and Bagwell and I can’t wait to try them

Just play the game more. Do showdowns and moments Etc. Try to at least complete one team Affinity. You get like 10 to 15,000 stubs and get cards along the way that you can sell.

I’ve done a bunch. Unfortunately between work and home life I don’t have the time to pump into the game to do all that. I have a real good lineup so it’s not something I’m upset about if I don’t do it.

I haven’t put money into stubs and I was able to complete LS. There are some tricks tho, like buying the 50 packs when they are half off, selling off anything you don’t need, and trying to flip when possible. One of the best things to do is to complete the Innings as fast as possible and sell your boss right away, then buy him back a week after the new inning starts, when their value tends to be at its lowest, since everyone is focused on newer inning.
-
I completed it on Friday and have played the game for 200 hours which is less than most that have Mantle. I sold every inning boss except first and 5th. I never pulled a 90+ diamond or bought packs. I flipped and invested. Player Programs/moments and conquest help a ton. I sell most rewards I get as well. Most of my stubs I have got this year have gone towards Mantle. I’ve only spent $20 on stubs

I just finished the live series collection today no money spent. I don’t buy packs, I didn’t lock in any players that weren’t live series because of the “collections” reward I knew prices would spike which they did. I made 150k in 10 minutes alone. Did some showdowns here and there. All and all of you play the game you’re bound to get lucky with diamonds here and there. I got extremely lucky for the first time ever I pulled Trout. Been playing diamond dynasty since 17. Play any/all events and keep the rewards until you see their value go up. It’s extremely do-able without spending real money. And from the small battle royals sample I’ve gotten from Sheffield and Biggio they’re worth it alone let alone Mantle

I finished the LS collection a while ago. I pretty much only play RS so I don't earn many stubs from playing any of the other modes. I flipped like a madman and pretty much only bought cards I needed to complete the collection. At the time, a lot of the cards were still usable in the game. Mainly the rewards for completing certain teams and divisions. Obviously the big 3 are still usable and I actually still have Billy Wagner in my bullpen, that card has been lights out since I got him and continues to be as well. Now is a really good time to be flipping some cards so if you can get into that and kind of get an idea as to how to make some stubs you can have the collection completed in a pretty decent amount of time. I stay stick with it and get it done, it's worth it.

I spent no money and had collections done by late April. Got lucky and pulled Trout in first week, got Yelich as a after gm reward a few days later.
I never bought packs, flipped cards or sold any player's. Just got to be smart when you do buy cards or sell duplicates.
So when MVP Trout came out I didn't need anything but 1 or 2 cards and had him easily also. -
The biggest reason to complete the collection is the xp gains. If you're not super worried about your progression then just play the game. There are more than enough free packs and stubs to get the live serious done naturally over time if you intend to play for a few months yet
-
I regretted it at first because I had to sell my entire team(which was pretty stacked) for the stubs. Now that I'm starting to rebuild around the rewards I'm happy I did it. I wouldn't say it is a necessity though

it can be done, I spent $20 on stubbs when I bought the game to kick start. I'm only four cards away from mantle. Just takes some time to flip. Be patient and grind free packs and stubbs through the TA. Sell off the FOTF when you get to it if its somebody you don't want to use (I wish i wouldn't have locked in so many)
