So if Sonny Gray gets lit up tonight is he gonna be downgraded to a silver Friday? I’m obviously exaggerating, but it’s crazy how they seemingly threw their “3 year average” thing out the window on some of those upgrades last week.

Shortened season, he's been on fire since 2019.

Sonny Gray was also one of the best pitchers in baseball last year so this wasn't out of thin air.

Yes but if they solely acknowledged last years level of success he wouldn’t have started at an 80.

I’m just surprised to see a guy with a 4.90 ERA and a 4.10 xFIP in 2018 go diamond after 2 starts in 2020.

I know it's been based on a 3-year stretch previously but Sonny had been an elite pitcher before his down slide in New York. As mentioned above, he deserves to be a diamond pitcher based on his numbers last year and first two starts this year. Don't get me wrong though I was very surprised as well, they never in the past have made jumps like that.
