Their narrative that the T206 is only for serious collectors in real life and also in the game made sense. Honus should be a yearly reward for the hardcore collectors.
Making ANOTHER centerfielder the collection reward (when he’s already got a 225,000+ stub card) is just silly. And if the season doesn’t get canceled and Trout continues to do Trout things, are we going to get a Finest Trout? Lol.
They've yet to anoint Trout as a Finest. A Signature or Prime wouldn't be out of the question though.

I certainly hope they have no plans of releasing another trout... especially after seeing the negative reaction on the forums, Twitter, and Reddit. If they thought 3 trouts would be a good idea then hopefully they are smart enough to read the room and recalibrate.
I think it’s really hard for SDS to balance ONE single card being the marquee guy. This forum was really adamant that some names (much much older players) are bigger names than guys that played in the 90s. Go on to twitch/youtube where the age demographic is different and you’ll hear something completely opposite from just as many people if not MORE.
Trout is about as close as you can get to pleasing the new school and old school fan base. Everybody respects Trout. I really don’t know what people were expecting or why everyone is so furious. He is one of the best players of all time. Period. Name any name, he isn’t Mike Trout, and he isn’t even close.

No doubt Trout is a fan favorite and we all love him both as a player and in the game. But a lot of us already have a 95 Trout (that’ll probably hit 96 most days with IE). So instead of getting a shiny new toy, we get a slightly shinier version of a toy we already grinded to get. Last year, we had no Honus Wagner, so a 99 Honus was a completely new card.
it is pretty funny that they call it "The rarest card", yet many had it within literally minutes.......I love trout, and its a really nice card.....but this was a serious disappointment (was really hoping for a new legend). Was also a bit disappointing they did not reward collecting all all of the new Stage 3 FOTF players. Oh well, its just a game....and it's going to force me to play online a bit more to grind out some prestige pitchers.....not gonna spend any stubs for prospects or HRD and only need 1 more voucher (too impatient to wait for Topps Now).....
