Question on out of position fielding

For example if you put Ozzie Smith at 3B he will be out of position however his fielding stats will still be in the 80s
Does this mean he will still defend like a gold shielder? Or will he constantly drop the ball and throw it away?
I just thought Id ask before I tried it and end up getting upset during a game lol

He won't get the animations. If he managed to catch it he probably wouldn't throw it away, but the problem is he'd have to catch it lol.

So basically he would have the animations of a common player with 80+ reaction and fielding?

He'd bobble the ball and have a high chance of making a throwing error.
