I can't hit Greg Maddux in Showdown to save my life!
-
I've made it to him three times now and the first was the closest I got with 2 runners on down by one score. Every other time I only scored one or two runs and couldn't get on base hardly ever.
I swear, he never throws me anything good and when he finally does, I lock up and don't swing. All of his slow stuff just messes with me so much.
If anyone has some tips, I could really use them badly. I'm able to pretty easily get 10-12 runs so it's not like I'm starting down by 7+ runs. I've had amazing hitters too... I just don't understand why I'm having so much trouble.

He gave me fits as well. You need to stay patient.
Do not worry about taking pitches, he doesn't get tired.
You need to capitalize on pitches in the middle of the zone regardless of count.
He will not walk you, so stop trying to draw them.
Taking pitches will get you into more 2 strike counts and he will dot you up on a floater right on the edge or a cutter that starts outside and just darts enough to get the outside corner. Also I found a couple of righties were effective against him. Eugenio Suarez, DeJong and Hoskins destroyed him.
Do not take chances on the basepaths and have at least 3 speed guys on the bench to pinch run.

Just foul off fastballs and sinkers. Sit low in the zone and tee off on the offspeed stuff.

I didn’t have too much of a problem with Maddux in the first showdown against him. I was down 15-8 and eventually tying it up. The second showdown I struggled a lot more. I was down 15-13 and took me 6 outs left before I hit a walk off.

I had some great luck my second play through and started it 13-15. I would say the thing that helped me the most along the way was focusing on left hitters and inside edge boosts!
With Maddux it was definitely a lot of soft tossing stuff. I think you have to be careful about sitting too low in the zone on those because I popped up a bunch. But I agree that the off speed pitches are where you'll get your hits and runs... gotta try to sit on them. -
I was able to get him first time down 10-15. I thought he was easier than Feller, Orel and Pearson actually. I sat on everything since he cant blow anybody away
