Unpopular opinion: the game is playing well
-
Honestly, I enjoy playing this game right now. Whatever tweaks they made along the way seem to have worked.
Also, love that the fastball is legit this year. Same for power. Makes the game more special when you can over power people just like in real life.
I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s fun to me and I think they did a good job this year. And the content has been great as usual too.
Hoping the collection reward isn’t too nuts to acquire though. Haha
-
Content is always good, but when early, red zone swings on pitches low and away result in no-doubt pulled bombs and good timing/center PCI balls have exit velo's of 85-90mph and float to the OF....the game is not playing well.
Glad you're having fun with it though.

I agree for the most part, though I probably would describe gameplay, (at least on the hitting side), as ok then playing well.
Last year my biggest gripe was it was impossible to consistently strike people out, they pretty much fixed that this year with the fastball and other things

Im having a blast and like the game.

Most people love how the game plays. Their is just a few loud cry babies that can't take an L

haha. Im terrible but having fun.
Its maddening when you hit a Perfect and line out to deep CF or hit a scorcher to the 3B. Thats baseball man.
-
The game itself mostly plays fine. Sinkers need to be fixed and I personally think power should be nerfed a touch, but its mostly fine.
Latency and connection issues on the other hand...
-
I just wish they would use the pitching and hitting mechanics from pro yakyuu spirits ..it's basically Japan's version of the show if you haven't heard about it look it up.once I got use to the menus and where everything was it became easy like breathing.but my point is the pitching is better with how the ball moves an there's many different ways a baseball goes off the bat an not just a hr fest.but I know they won't but a man can dream
-
Overall, it’s pretty good. It can be frustrating at times, but it’s more good than bad and better than you’d believe reading this forum. Pitching accuracy can be sketchy. There are still a few fielding issues occasionally. For my games offensively, it’s home run or bust, which I’m not a fan of. There was all the talk last year about making contact hitters useful. To me, it’s power or nothing this year. But I have fun.
-
I think it is a fair point, the game seems pretty solid right now. I just need to lay off the stuff in the dirt. Been 3 years and I'm still chasing it.

Better than 19, way better than 18. On par with 17 imo
-
This one is on par with 15' and 17' IMO. May even surpass it at some point. Content wise it beats those two already.

17 is leagues above 20's squared up lineouts, constant bloop hits, and broken check swings

Love the game.

You sure you aren’t talking about 19? Bloop hits are almost nonexistant in 20. Check swings have been a problem longer than just MLB 20. I’ll take squared up lineouts over just late swings on the inside corner being blasted over the opposite field wall. People are so blinded by nostalgia that they forget you couldn’t even play online for 2 months in 17 due to the server issues

Nonexistant...? Opponents as well as myself hit frequent bloopers on late/jammed contact. 20's hitting engine is essentially a carbon copy 19 but with the addition of perfect. 17 had its issues, but at least hitting results were consistent and rewarding up until the infamous "just late be great" patch that slightly nerfed good timed swings. I definitely agree that safe check swings have become way too easy over the last few years

Its really not. Contact hitters were way more useful in 19. This year is basically 18's homerun or nothing mixed with higher pitch speeds and 19's lineouts issues. Plus a big helping of the worst timing issues/latency I've ever seen.

This game does not play well at all. Pitching is horrendous, batting is he early or late. Defense is a joke, outfielders take their time when it’s a important throw. Good and diamond fielders miss balls they shouldn’t. Content A plus, gameplay D and that’s being generous
-
I have fun every time I play but it’s still got some work in almost every category when it comes to gameplay. It’s not horrendous like people want to say, but you can’t have issues with this many parts of the game.
Content is relative. The cards are the best ever, and the choices are endless. I just can’t stand how we earn them. Easy online stat mission, easy offline stat mission, one exchange, a group of moments, play vs the CPU on allstar for every single program/card all year. I’m so bored of it now.
I’d much prefer tiers with second or third options for each of those after you advance. Play CPU on allstar, then HOF, then Legend. 20 Hits with braves, then 20 RBIS, then 40 rbis, or have one stage be a single game mission, 9 hits with braves in one game sort of thing.
If the program is 50 stars, you should be able to earn 50 stars through all 5 avenues.
-
The game is still enjoyable but inconsistent exit velos on squared up balls with great timing and pci placement is an issue
