99 Jimmy Rollins

Speed, fielding and most importantly, switch hitting. He will have a small strike zone though because he's short like Jose Altuve and Jose Ramirez. I personally don't like that, but to each their own.
-
If he is anything like the 17 Rollins I would sell Banks and don't look back. Speed, Switch Hitting Power and good glove. He played above his stats in 17

17 had both Rollins and Beltran? I couldn't remember and didn't want to put out false information

Yes, 17 had both. Jimmy Rollins as a program reward and Carlor Beltran was in the ticket counter.

Yes Yes where lineouts and good/good were irrelevant and you could actually hit LOL

Absolutely. I mean there was topspin and just late cheese, but that game was miles better than everything we've seen since.

Yes yes when people complained about “just late” until they made it a audio emote in the game. It’s always the same, the game improves and people still complain.

I actually prefer the hitting in 16. That was my first year in DD and my average for the year was .248 but my record was above .500 When 17 came out with the "ball physics" that's when the topspin came into play and guys with a one handed finish with their swing were awful. I.E. Cal Ripkin. I remember that Vida Blue was so good that year and now the last three is mediocre at best. Funny how this game gets programmed.

Well yeah, that's why I said since. I liked the hitting in 16 better as well, but the bunt cheese ruined the game.

Yep the bunt cheese online was horrendous. When you played guys that played "real" baseball though it was a ton of fun and a good challenge.

We can agree to disagree....no problem there. My opinion is I would take 17 and "just late" well over lineout city and a good/good lazy flyball. If you think the last two games are better than 16 or 17.....well that's your opinion you are entitled to. The content just gets better and better but the game has not.
We all know that 18 was and will always be the worst game released.

'17 Beltran was Baseball Jesus. That card was incredible. '17 Rollins was no slouch either.
-
He's gonna be a switch hitting Jackie with slightly less contact imo

I think they'll give Rollins more power than Jackie tbh.

Funny thing I remember when Rollins first had a 99 card come out and people were worried he didn't have enough arm stats to play Shortstop. I would always say, hey you don't need to throw out a runner by 5 steps, you just need to throw him out. He always played good for me in the field.

@TEXAS10PT it won’t let me quote you but I just think the hit variety is far superior now. Playing the old games showcases how far they’ve come even though they can’t get the new physics perfect and probably never will.
17 and 20 are my favourites, it’s not even close, the issue is 20 should be 3 years ahead of 17 and not in the same category which it is.
But I mean cmon, 16 and it’s backing out against lefties with a full bunt cheese line that never failed was bad. People never to bring up the massive amount of game breaking flaws that game had and it had more than any of them.

Because people on here have very short-term memory.

I agree there was a massive amount of backing out especially when a left handed pitcher was throwing but that is not part of the gameplay. Bunt cheese absolutely sucked so I agree as well. Fielding was suspect at times too but hitting was real and so was pitching. You didn't have floating fastballs drift over the middle of the plate like you do now. I'm not playing devils advocate here but I do have the right to say I liked playing 16 and 17 for that matter much better than the last 3 editions. Its my opinion and I respect yours so there is really no wrong answer here. Everybody who reads enough of this forum knows that I'm an old fart now. Maybe my dislike for 19 & 20 is due to my reflexes slowing down heck I don't know but I sure know which versions of this game I like/liked the best
