I would like a mechanic in the game where if people pitch out of the zone all the time none of their pitches hit the strike zone rest of the game.
(Hence the reason people bunt dance is usually an indicator to the pitcher to "freakin pitch the ball" and stop trying to make everybody chase!)
Um...it's called "expanding the strike zone" and it's been a thing since baseball was invented.
In fact, the current trend in real baseball are less pitches in the strike zone which is resulting in more strikeouts.
I am very wall aware how baseball works i have a family member in the HOF i grew up around sports but ty for trying to explain to me, i truly do appreciate it!
Happy to help!
In all your experience, how many times have you seen bunt dancing in real baseball versus pitchers throwing out of the zone?
Oh and ask Nolan Ryan (and his 2,795 walks) about staying in the zone and "pitching to contact".
See you are trying to validate your point with real pitchers in real life and sorry to burst you bubble but this game play will never be an exact simulation of the real game it is feasibly impossible.
No it doesn't need to be exact, just somewhat realistic.
Bunt dancing is not realistic, expanding the zone is.
You said you wanted a play a "legit" game. How is bunt dancing "legit"?
Depends on what you are referring to? if somebody constantly throws out of the zone with no attempt to get it in the zone do you think its fair for a person to throw that many pitches out of the zone on purpose without being penalized? Video game purposes only
They are penalized by walking batters, that's free runners on base. Their stamina and confidence also goes down.
Do you think it's fair that a batter can swing at everything and not be penalized?
I absolutely do not think they should be rewarded for swinging at a bad pitch all the time, but guess what to go back your point. Ever since baseball has been around there are those who have gotten hit from swinging at pitches they should have left alone. so how is that different?
It's not. That's why in this game, we all get hits off pitches out of the zone sometimes.
I'm just not seeing your logic here.
You appear to want pitchers to be penalized for consistently throwing out of the zone, but batters not to be penalized for consistently swinging at bad pitches, is that correct?
Ok i requoted you for the purpose of trying explain what i am trying to get across but numnutts keeps interfereing with troll posts.
I want to see penalties for both! I am not pro bunt dancing and i am not pro pitch out of zone.
But what i am is a person who would like to see it harder to be able to throw out of zone so often, while also not being rewarded with anything more than a blooper at most for a pitch out of the zone.
I would like to see pitches be rewarded within the zone because i feel if a legitimate pitch in the zone did what it was supposed to do dependant on location of course, this would create an environment where people would have more confidence in the pitchers and pitch location outcome. Allowing for better gameplay experience from both sides.
Thanks for clarifying!
My personal experience with this game has been different and leads me to different conclusions.
Pitching strategically means exploiting your opponents weakness(es). If they will consistently swing at a slider in the dirt, you exploit that to your benefit. You don't come into the zone until the batter shows you they can have some discipline.
Batting strategically means recognizing the pitcher's strategy and adapting to it. You force the pitcher to come into the zone by not swinging at those sliders in the dirt. Otherwise you take walk after walk and take the free runs.
You may be able to pitch in the zone fairly effectively at legend difficulty due to the faster pitch speeds. But at lower difficulty, it is extremely hard to pitch effectively staying in the zone. If your pitcher has drastic speed differentials between pitches it helps, but otherwise it's just batting practice.
Yes this is a video game, but it is trying to be somewhat realistic. You have pitchers that make their living out of the zone and those that live in the zone.
As I said, my personal experiences with this game have not led me to believe that consistently pitching out of the zone is an issue that needs to be fixed.
So we can agree on bunt dancing but disagree on pitching out of the zone.

Exactly, I’m never going to pitch to someone’s strength,
If you sit fastball every pitch 80% of pitches you’re going to see from me are going to be off speed
If you can’t hit a fastball I’m going to bust you inside with fastballs constantly
If you have no eye and are a free swinger, you’re going to maybe get one pitch in the zone per at bat until you show me you can lay off a pitch

I would like a mechanic in the game, that if someone bunt dances too much, they get stuck in the bunt motion.

Have you ever played or watched baseball? Giving us Rockies fans a bad name man.
yeah? how long you been a fan? B\c i remember going to games when the Blake Street Bombers were around! Actually I have the same patch on my jersey that the players have and when it was handed to me by Mr Monfort he said "welcome to the Rockies!" So yeah i have a place in my heart for the ROX so good job trying to win brownie points in the internet
Cool? Nobody here is questioning your loyalty to your team but rather whatever iota of baseball intelligence you have. Having been born with a glove in my hand, it's no secret that if you pitch outside the zone, and your opponent swings every single time you'll never get a pitch to hit. That is strategic baseball, playing to your opponents disadvantage or lack of ability.

This isn't related at all, but I've got a Trevor Story signed Louisville Slugger with MLB COA hologram going up for sale in a couple days. Send me a PM if you're interested and I'll give you first dibs before it hits eBay. Sorry to derail the thread but your PSN reminded me.

You really know how to talk to a guy. Is it game used at all? I know some of those holograms have a code you can enter that shows exactly what game they were used in. Dude I'm totally interested, my wife however isn't. Ever.
I'll shoot you a PM anyway.

Not game used, unfortunately. Though the same guy is allegedly coming back to get rid of his game used Dante Bichette bat, once he brings the COAs with him. I'll send you the COA code for the Story bat.
