5th Starter Options
-
Okay, so I've tried forever to find a solid fifth starter, whether they come out of the bullpen or I actually need to start them, I haven't found anyone that can be the fifth man. I NEED recommendations please! I'm not the richest when it comes to stubs, and I only need Gerrit Cole to complete the live series collection. My four starters are:
99 Kluber
99 Smoltz
99 Mike Scott
99 Paxton
All of these guys are solid enough for me, and I'm not looking to replace them. For my fifth roation spot I have looked all over for players. These players include:
88 Ohtani
98 Newhouser
95 Snell
96 Felix Hernandez
91 DeGrom
92 Scherzer(Butchered the Spelling ik)
98 Jim Palmer
All of the pitchers I have used for at least 5 games and have not had the success I've wanted (ERA north of 4) If you have any advice on who to get it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -
Bueller?

Hal is no better than a bucket of scraps for pigs

Alright, I might try him out, its just that 48k is sorta a lot for me rn

You actually spelled Scherzer correctly.

Kerry Wood, Hersh, Hamels are my suggestions

Lots of good options for you really. Like others have mentioned I'd agree that Hershiser is probably your best bet, although not your only choice. I've used Felix for a while and hes been very solid for me. A lot of people don't like him but for me he's been great, and I'm pretty sure cheaper than Orel. I've never used him but Hal is free, so if stubs are an issue you could get him and at least give him a shot. That way you could save your stubs to finish the collection and get Mickey. Figure out your 5th starter then if Hal isn't getting it done for you.

Cole Hamels May be worth a shot, but Im not sure why it wouldn’t be Hal. He’s my #2.

Grenkie is really REALLY good. My initial thought was for Orel but you said you had no success with him, so I would suggest Grenkie. Hamels is really good too, but last I looked he was also double the cost.

Hal is terrible, idk how people like him.

I have yet to use Orel. I think you mixed up him and Hal Newhouser. I've wanted to check Orel out, but he's a bit higher on the price scale.

Newhouser is my #2 in my rotation at the moment. I just got 99 Paxton, but he'll probably take Dustin May's spot in my rotation. I seem to struggle with May despite his electric stuff. I can't locate anything despite his good BB/9 and control attributes.

He is worth 200k, better than Kluber

I need to work on being unpredictable with Orel. I trust Kluber more right now, but I think I can figure out how to better pitch with Orel

That's exactly what I did. I still recommend Grenkie and Hamels, but Orel is better.
