Rankings mean nothing. RS is pretty much the same as every other element of the online game. It's, basically, predetermined by AI who will win. You can see it in every aspect of the game. The worst, obviously, is the pitch/swing animation. It's gotten so obvious the swing and pitch have almost no consequence in the outcome of the AB. Animation will "show" you were the pitch came in, "show" you where you swung, make the little vibration and audio to back it up. But the truth is..it's just the AI creating whatever animation in needs to support the scripted outcome. That simple.
Not saying it can't be fun. But, forget about having any kind of competitive experience because it's just not that kind of game. Fun to watch the animation sometimes though. Always more fun when the AI decides you'll win.
I've never once had a pitch go somewhere I didn't want it to, unless I didn't have good input. We must be playing different versions of the game.
You have never had a pitch go somewhere other than you intended? I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that everyone has had this happen once or twice with good/perfect input (in the entirety of their play, let alone once a session/evening).
But maybe I am in the wrong and don't fully understand pitching with the meter? I do plan on switching to analog.

I hear meter is really tough, lots of RNG, haven't used it this year.

All the youtubers use analog and they also comment on pitches floating into the zone, so I don't know. It is what it is. Moral of the story, I need to care less about things in this game and do my best to enjoy my time playing, for the sake of playing.

I don't use analog either, whip under .5 in 600 RS games. All pitching inputs work fine (except maybe classic, I've never used it), as long as you get good at it.

I use pulse and it is really easy...pitches go wherever you want! Especially fastballs

Yup, 100%. I've had no issues pitching this year, especially with high control guys. Smoltz has 204 K's and 3 walks in 111.1 innings pitched. 0.49 ERA, 0.32 Whip
Just got Hershiser, but so far: 22 K's, 1 walk, 14 IP. 0.00 ERA, 0.86 Whip.

Hershiser has been lights out in ranked! I have 13 total innings in ranked and a zero ERA. I’m 70% done prestiging him because of the event. I’m surprised Smoltz is good for you! How long have you used pulse for?

I don't remember, it's all I've used. I didn't start playing DD until last year, so online, two years. You learn timing with pulse, and you learn pitcher tendencies, it takes some time, but it's well worth it.
Prestige Felix is unhittable, but if you aim his slider at the corner, it will hang and go 500 feet. You have to learn WHERE to put them to get the result you want, it's not for everyone.

I respect the OPs view....However, as for me, the moment I stop caring about my online record is the moment I will stop playing RS h2h.
For me, it is only fun to do that mode due to the idea that it is somehow important, at least in a competitive sense (like pickup basketball or something). That gives me the motivation to grind for better cards along with trying to get better. It plays on my competiveness, which makes RS worth my time. -

Same, last year was my first year. I played in 16 and wanted to get back into it. I played a little last year but have played more this year for sure! Madden and rocket league have died off but I’m getting into Fortnite a little...

I'm a coach, I have enough competition in my job, I enjoy video games for the fun factor without the stress.

The training wheels pitch setting works in the 400s against .150 hitters but your not hitting those numbers against a good player lol, not even a decent one.

Weird flex, pitching is about location and selection. The thread is about hanging pitches down the middle, which is what we are discussing. Also, I'm not playing in the 400's if that was directed towards me.
Training wheels pitch settings would be "classic pitching", and I don't believe anyone here is using that setting.
Pulse and meter is literally the same thing, with a different visual for timing. Some people prefer the madden kicking style approach, others prefer pulse, they both give the same result.

Carrying where exactly? Over to a friends house?

HAHAHAHA I never noticed this and I think you are the first to even mention this mess up? That is hilarious!
