While the way it is currently done isn't perfect because it encourages boosting if they let you do it offline everyone wouldnhave evey card prestiged in a day.

Because originally it was intended as a trophy for using a player for a while and showing it off online. The attributes bump barely makes a difference at all to anything other than fielding. The gotta have it now mindset and boosting basically ruined the best mode(events) because of this

I’ve never understood it. Just make the stats required higher and allow it to be offline or online.

    To promote online play.

If it was offline-able, everyone would do what they did in 2018: load up a Conquest game at Coors Field and quit out after the first AB.

Maybe it’s their favorite player and they want the best version of them?

Same reason people need it for online. To use the best cards.

I can’t say enough that there isn’t a noticeable difference between a prestige card and the regular. If it was just a 3 point boost instead of a brand new card we would not even be having these conversations

I agree, but (some) people see the +3 and know there is a better version. So that's why they want to have it. It makes no difference whether it's for online/offline use.

I agree totally. But it’s kind of the same reason people get obsessed with having all 99s. They might not be that much better than other 95s but it’s the fact it’s a 99 that it makes them want it. It’s all flexing, and also the addiction of seeing your team improve even if it is just slightly.

No different than the last online event really.

Remember the old days of MLB 16 when everyone played Extra Innings vs the Yetis ( a team made up of Common players playing out of position)? It was tedious, but you could quickly build up stats offline. They had to ban Extra Innings games from counting towards missions ..

There's a few guys where the +3 makes a BIG difference.

Mantle on Defense changes him to diamond.

Guys like Mattingly, Young and Kendall get a power rating over the magical 80 mark.

Bellinger goes to diamond D for all secondaries after prestige.

    On and on.

There are differences and they are beyond a shiny card.

Same with pitchers too. It increases their pitch speed and differentials. Another thing people overlook is stamina. +3 to stamina can give you an extra 5-7 pitches before going into the yellow.

You mean like everyone did in the moonshot event?

Besides, this argument is bs. What made that method work in 18 was it was stats by position (ie all 1B or CF) and this anyone’s stats counted. This year is for a specific player and thus the offline hitting and quitting would be far less effective and far more time consuming (and completely fail if you were trying to do more than 3-4 guys at once).
