Or you can learn to hit same handedness and this will never be an issue again.
Exactly. The only ones advocating for this are people that struggle to hit same handedness. Practice and get better. Stop looking for a easy way out
Exactly. Everyone struggled at some point, especially lefty/lefty. Instead of asking for the game to change go practice like the rest of us.
At this stage of the game the best left handed hitters can hit same handedness, I am an avg hitter, Knowing where people like to pitch lefty on lefty it has not has hard to hit. I have 2 lefty hitters I do well with vs same handedness, Duke Snyder and McCovey, Jackson does ok.

They absolutely should give us back the option to have seperate lineups vs LHPs and RHPs like they used to. I know the main reason they changed it because people were backing out before the game but they can easily work around that issue.
To people against this because people could keep 5 righties on the bench to start vs a lefty: if someone wants to platoon to that extent then let them because they're only hurting themselves if they go that far. Most people would use one or two platoons which isnt that big of a deal and is much more realistic than we have now

In 16 The Show, you could see if you were facing a righty or lefty before the game started. You could change your lineup prior to the start of the game and fill your lineup with all righties of lefties. People complained heavily because most people would bail before the game started if they were facing a lefty starter. This is why it forever changed. The fix now is load your lineup with switch hitters. There are enough diamonds in the game to load your lineup with switch hitters they are not always high diamonds though.
Most people arguing about this probably didn't even play 16 so they wouldn't know this was once a thing that got a ton of criticism.
That’s also an easy fix. All they have to do is make it to were if you quit once it shows the lineup screen it counts as a loss for you and win for your opponent. I would like the option of starting certain players against certain handedness instead of using them for a pinch hitting assignment. But some splits or too rough to do that (ex. Derek Dietrich). But it would be nice to know opponent was starting a righty and I could start Dietrich. And if I’m starting a righty and my opponent didn’t want to face them and quit. Well it’s a free win. There, I fixed the game SDS. Now just work on gameplay

It should be you have a locked in roster and can make your LHP lineup and your RHP lineups however you want with that same roster. They should also make DH in American league parks like real baseball then you would have 4 lineups to set. I get why they have it the way it is, but it's more fun to me the more like real baseball it is.

Kind of a d-bag thing to say. Because nobody said he couldn’t. But attributes are different, obviously. I would love to use the rookie Braun but it wouldn’t make any sense if it wasn’t against a LHP when you have Chipper at 3B.

It wasn't meant as a d-bag thing to say. I'm just tired of all the people who constantly ask for changes in the game while they aren't real problems. A fielder not picking up a ball, that's a real problem. What happened to practice and get your skill to a higher level? All of us upper tier players went through that grind and we embraced it, instead of asking for changes whenever something could benefit us more.
And Rookie Braun can hit tanks off of righties just as easily, just get the PCI on it and pull it. Ratings only do so much.
-
I mean.. just make an all switch lineup or just bite the bullet and sub.. keep like 2 hitters on the bench and sub 3 out for handedness.

My post isn't about ability to hit, it's about the ability to set separate lineups based off the same players in your 25 man. I'm positive many have everyday righties in their lineups that they'd prefer to start lower in the order strictly vs RHP and vice versa

I can just see it happening. Multiple people putting 5 lefties in the lineup with 3 switch hitters and then 5 righties on the bench and vice versa. How is that fun? There’s zero strategy in that.
The only thing I could see where this would be great is where a batter has terrible splits. Like that 85 Braun for example
Simple, bring in a different handed starting pitcher(s) in relief and see how quickly opponents will burn through their bench. That's their problem if they struggle to hit same handed and with 0 players left on the bench
Exactly. Let them do it, I’ll change pitchers til their bench is empty

Alright that’s valid.

Again this whole argument is a mute point because you can bring in starters in relief. If you have a lefty and a righty in your rotation with full energy every game you just switch out your starter after 3 hitters. Don’t know why people are arguing for it when it would only serve as a disadvantage to them...

I know what you meant. I wasn't attacking you, I was just explaining to the other guy why I reacted the way I did. And I'll say it again in response to you; you can set your line up strategically or use switch hitters and all of this won't be an issue regardless of who you face. What I do for example, I try to make batches of 3 hitters that have 1 rightie, 1 leftie and 1 switch hitter. That way I'll always have an advantage for at least 2/3 matchups. And I'm comfortable to hit same handedness with the righties and lefties I use, so they're not a disadvantageous matchup either.

If you want to say this is not a real problem because the game intentionally doesn't let you set multiple lineups unlike some gameplay issues that are glitches that's one thing. However people in here are arguing that it is a problem because it's a bad design that hurts the user experience and runs counter to the way that MLB managers set their lineups each day.
It's also not fair to tell people to get better as a response to wanting to set lineups based on the opposing pitcher. Even the best hitters in real life and this game will do better with the platoon advantage than without it. Both players would be able to use two different lineups so it's not about making things easier, it's about having mlb the show more accurately represent MLB games

Yes it is my opinion that allowing people to set different lineups is better but it's a fact that doing so would be more realistic since that's what MLB managers do and that just about everyone will have more success against opposite handed pitchers than same handed pitchers regardless of how good a player you are
