For all the complaints about the game (some legitimate, some not, in my opinion), I'm having a blast playing. I think you're doing yourself a disservice by giving up so quickly. It's a much better game than people are claiming.
I have my own gripes, mainly about perfect pitches going over the middle, but it's definitely my most played game over the last 3 months, and I don't see that changing. The "good old days" of gaming are gone, and they're never coming back. Gone are the days of AAA titles being produced by a couple of guys in their garage. This is big business. Understandable if you no longer want to support it, but I still enjoy it.
When you say “it’s a much better game than people are saying”, what is it about the game/gameplay that makes it much better than people are claiming? Just out of curiousity.
For instance, a good majority of this forum complains about hitting being "broken". I personally think hitting is challenging this year, compared to last year, but I wouldn't describe it as broken. I'm not a good hitter. I typically hit between .260 and .310 with most of my guys. I see other people have averages in the high .300s and .400s and marvel at how they do it. It kinda keeps me going, much like golf does. Golf is one of the most frustrating things I've ever done, but the allure of trying it ONE MORE TIME just to get a bit better is a challenge that keeps me coming back.
The game has issues for sure, but they seem to be addressing them. They haven't given up on supporting it. Fielding is much better, the new hitting interface is pretty slick, and the content has been fantastic. I love the sheer amount of things to do / goals you can accomplish at any given time. Prestige and player programs have made me use cards I never would've messed with otherwise, and I've found a couple of players I really enjoy through them. I also like that (outside of Kluber), there's no real meta lineup. I see a ton of lineup and pitching diversity in games now, as opposed to everyone having the same players at the same position every single game. I do hope they address the floating middle pitch issue, but everyone deals with the same thing, so it's a level playing field.
I guess that's a long winded way of saying I'm having a hell of a good time playing, and have been playing since early access. Usually I get tired of games by now, but I'm still going strong.
