I'm assuming since you need 1 putout, you need to either strikeout Pudge or get him to pop up to the infield so you can catch it with Dereck?
It's glitched, get pudge out anyway and during the second half of the moment the challenge of 1 putout will complete

I completed this the 1st run...somehow...weird mission
Yeah I thought that mission was a little weird I got the putout after batting with pudge and he popped it up. I only have the 6 inning game left before I get Griffey Sr. I might actually get 300 program stars without doing the showdown. I have not been able to complete a showdown beside the introduction one. Got the Feller in inning 2 and the game froze so I had to shut down everything to and it made my start over.
