I love events, but RS rating needs to matter

SDS

Seriously, there's no reason why I, who tops out at 600 in RS, should be put against people in WS. It's not fun and it's not competitive when I'm getting blown out every other game.

so someone that is not that good at the game should get the exact same rewards as the best players in the game? Why should the best players in the game constantly match up against the other best players in the game? Unless the better players with the harder competition get better rewards it should all be fair game. Plus, the more wins you accrue in a row your rating goes up.

SDS

When you search for a game, hit the left arrow on the DPad a couple of times. That will make sure you only match up with people within a +50 or -50 range of your rating.

Might be a little bigger of a gap but I think that’s about how it is.

Does not matter for events.

SDS

No it shouldn't matter, why should I have a harder time in events just because I made WS in ranked? Why should I have to go through the top 2%-4% of players that make WS to get event rewards?

Oh I misunderstood the post. Thought he was talking about them separately.

SDS

I'm not asking for better rewards, but I shouldn't be blown out every game. If you make world series in RS, should you be playing someone ranked 700? I don't expect every game to be easy, but it should at least be competitive.

No my point is if you want to play subpar opponents then your reward should be sub par compared to the people playing the best players. It's that easy. It should be an even playing field for the same rewards. some people that play events don't even play ranked seasons. The ranked seasons rating has no effect or bearing on events. They're two completely different modes and it should stay that way. if I make World Series and I have to sweat out 50 or a hundred events games versus other World Series players I would lose my mind.

SDS

I don’t think there’s a logical solution for this.

If you’re not a great player you’re not looking for single run rewards so it’s all about accumulating wins, so there’s no punitive damage from a loss like RS where you’d lose ranking. There’s nothing stopping you from quitting as soon as you see you’re up against someone you feel is superior and simply moving on to your next game...and if it’s the first game, you’re second game (assuming you keep it under 1500 which is pretty much always the case) will be against someone that’s lost at least one game as well.

And if that’s not working, and it’s no fun, I’d simply move on to something else...that’s something I’ve done in past events ...

SDS

After you lose the first game, you'll very likely match up with someone closer to your ranking.

SDS

Not it shouldn't. Events are for fun and non-sweaty games. You're only looking at it from your own perspective, for WS players it can be fun to match up against lower rated players for a slugfest as well. It's just an event short inning game, who cares? If you lose you just quit and start a new game, doesn't cost you a thing. If you care that much about ratings I advise you to stick to RS.

Except from my experience I seem to get the sweatiest opponents of all in event games lol. I don’t understand it.

That could just be a coincidence or if you've already got some wins under your belt, the matchmaking system looks for an opponent who also already has some wins under their belt. When you're in a 0-0 run, you can match up with literally anyone.

They usually aren’t good players. Bunt dancers, home run watchers, R2 holders. Wouldn’t be surprised if they run out a bunch of speed bunters even in a moonshot event lol.
