I'd be fine with removal of auto-shift by default if there was a giant red popup that noted X card as being a pull hitter.

Right now I believe you'd have to check the quirks of each batter and likely multiple times/game because people would forget who was and wasn't. I'm definitely not down for that nonsense.

I totally agree with this, anything that makes online play a snorefest of pausing is bad but I like the idea of manual shifting.

So you want your opponent to pause 30+ times a game to set his defense? I'll kindly not have that every game.

You can actually do it at the beginning of the game for every batter in the line up, or choose to do it on the go. And I really don't mind, those adjustments just take a couple of seconds. Reality is most people don't even know how to set everything properly because the auto-shift does everything for them and they've been relying on the game to do it for them for years.

A couple seconds 27 times or more could add like 20 minutes to a game

    couple seconds × 27 = 54 Seconds
In what math universe does that add up to 20 minutes

Lol oh ok so it takes only 2 seconds to do it?

It sure as hell doesn’t take 40 seconds like you seem to think.

If you've been playing this game for a while, and I know many people around here have, you know exactly who you might want to shift. And even then, you can pull a ball with literally any card in the game. Even if they have opposite field tendencies.

I don’t know. Are we sure that an out is not already decided on contact? If you hit a ground out or line out, the game just has the ball go to one of the fielders regardless of their position. I’ve seen shifts beaten, but rarely deliberately. And you’d think that the really good hitters could sit back and pepper the holes of the shift, but you just don’t see it with any regularity. Bunts to the short stop don’t count.

You came at me for a difference of opinion about mercing me 9 out of 10. You need help sir.

My words are truth. Don't like the shift? Use some different players. You wouldn't hit 450. That's laughable in every sense of the game.

You are taking this way too seriously. Take a step back and go for a walk or something.

You tried to school me on some nonsense. That's not the same as having a different opinion my man 😂.

I am actually batting around .450 on All-Star FYI. Feel free to look up my BR stats to verify. So not that laughable, maybe for you but not for me. However, you still don't get the point I was making, you're a bit hard headed. I have no issues with the shift. I have issues with the auto-shift aka bailing out lazy/incompetent players.

You are taking this way too seriously. Take a step back and go for a walk or something.

Because I have a valid complaint that bothers me. You on the other hand have contributed nothing but toxicity in this thread.

@raesONE said in If it wasn't for the auto-shift:

I would be batting .450 or higher. That's not even an exaggeration. I absolutely hate the fact that the auto-shift is turned on by default. Using a shift, or not, is a strategic decision and should be user controlled at all times.

If you lack the presence of mind to put on a shift in a specific situation, or if you're simply too lazy to do the defensive adjustments, I feel like you should be burned by those balls through the infield holes every single time. But now, the game bails you out by putting an auto-shift on basically 80% of the players in the game, making those well hit pulled balls into the shift ot lasers up the middle automatic outs. Those are great at bats with great swings being outs while my opponent did absolutely nothing for it. Another fine example of lowering the skill gap.

No you wouldn’t be hitting .450 or higher.. trust me the game would still make the ball go right to one of the fielders no matter where they are standing lol.

Serious question... I turned off automatic shift because I noticed so many “late/okay doubles. However since I’m flirting with the 800s, I’ve noticed more teams are shifting again. I assume at the high skill level it’s more effective?

I concur....with RNG...the determination as to whether it was a hit or not was made long before the hard hit grounder or line drive was fielded by the 2nd baseman playing short right field.

In my opinion, a “shift” against a lefty shouldn’t even be considered anything other than normal defense at this point.

Wait a minute. You are really trying to flex about hitting 450 on AS in BR?

That's like claiming you have the best toilet in the world because it flushes.

    Enjoy your day. Happy flushing!

I have the shift off and I'm doing just fine in the higher levels. It works even better there I would say, because the fastballs come in a whole lot faster and therefore it's more likely you'll give up those late swing doubles against the shift.

Once again Johnny, I don't need, nor try to measure up with anyone on a forum. You have a massive micropeen complex about people believing you on claims. You do realize that I'm playing with your insecurities.

Nobody cares what people hit on AS in BR or against the CPU. Frankly, I don't care either about whatever stats I accumulated with the state of play on AS.

Keep flushing though. Have a great day out there. I hope you have other areas in life to bring you joy. Asking strangers to look at each other's profiles online doesn't do it for me. You do you though.
