Ranked season points

Does anyone know how they calculate your points lost in a RS game? It is so beyond infuriating when you lose by 1 run and lose 40+ points. Meanwhile when I beat my opponent by 3-5+ runs, they lose only 20-40 points. What is this???? It for real makes you not wanna play!

I think it just has to do with what your opponent is ranked, so if you play someone way below your rank, It'll cost you more points if you lose, and you won't get as many points if you win..
It's why I don't let my bar go forward when searching for a game

The bigger the difference in points between you and your opponent, the more points you'll gain/lose. If you're ranked 200 points above your opponent and you win, you'll barely win any points. But if you lose, you'll lose a lot.
If you're ranked 200 points below your opponent and you win, you'll win a ton of points and if you lose, you'll barely lose any. -
