The moonwalk

What’s up with that animation where the middle infielder is going to field the ball to the left of second base while a runner is attempting a steal, and then he suddenly moonwalks backwards to make the tag?
-
Animation catching up to the play that has been selected. Like balls that make 90 degree turns to drop into a glove, or outfielders that cover 20m in a second
Dead serious, I think this is the reason. The maths is done to determine the outcome of the play and therefore a correct (usually) animation is assigned.

Yeah the balls that make hard right turns into the glove are something else!

If online, this is explained by sync issues between the two hosts. The teleport is “fixing” the difference between the game I’m playing and the one you are playing which sometimes get out of sync. I’m assuming you don’t see this offline?

No, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen offline, although the groundballs making right turns do.

Ive seen all three offline, hence my hypothesis
Edit: just to be clear, I’ve not a major issue with it because the animation doesn’t influence the play outcome in any way, it’s the last piece of the puzzle.
Kind of like in the previous three versions of the game when check swing animations were wrong at least 50% of the time.
