Any way to stop late game comebacks?

SDS

I legitimately can't win games where I have the lead in the last inning. Speedy player always beats the shift with a late/weak hit for a double. Then the next batter regardless of power stats hits a bomb. Happens to me just about every time I take a lead into the final inning.

SDS

Stop playing the game lol that’s what I’m doing nothing matters good input equals you’re losing no matter what

SDS

Terrible gamee, so predictable,

Just quit before the last inning.

Problem solved 🙂

Sorry, been watching a lot of Parks and Rec lately and I visualised Andy/Chris Pratt when this response came to mind.

Come to think of it, Ron would reply the same way but it would be coming from a completely different place.

SDS

It sounds like you should turn the shift off for starters

SDS

This is so common for me I “price in” a 2 run homer in the 8th when evaluating any lead. If I’m not up by 4, it’s going to be tied at some point. It’s always a crappy hit, followed by a massive homer that feels very fake. This happens especially when you’ve dominated all game, like giving up 2 singles in 7 innings. I don’t get mad about the rubber banding, but I’d really like more game tempo/result variability.

SDS

Change relievers often. I don't know if the game has comeback logic or not. But if I put in my closer and he gives up a weak hit to the first batter, I'll consider pulling him LOL.

SDS

If my opponent has spies guys I automatically put on my bunt defense. It’s the only way to stop it

SDS

Yes, it’s called making sure you don’t follow the same pitching patterns, or don’t get the tight [censored] and throw offspeed pitches way off the plate. Usually those 2 things cause players to lose late since players focus on tendencies more late.

SDS

Biggest thing I have noticed is that relievers have fragile minds. Their confidence disappears at the slightest bit of adversity. I've had guys come in give up a HR and the analog bar disappear in the first batter and a mound visit doesn't even bring it back so I got to pitch to the next two guys blind. Confidence is massive this year and you almost have to switch pitchers when a rally starts.

SDS

I slow the game down. Literally. Take your time pitching, feel like that alone disrupts the hitters. They're usually in a flow with when you pitch, slowing it down throws them off too

SDS

If I find the hitter is fouling alot of late and the count goes 2-2 or 3-2 I walk him because he is more focused walking him will break his rhythm and save the pitches confidence opposed to a straight up walk. Mound visit are a big help as well. You have to break you opponents rhythm and timing as he will likebe more zones in. Also avoid bring in a like mind pitcher what I mean buy that is if you used Kluber all game dont bring in another sinker/fastball guy in move to a curve/change up pitcher as the pitches have been used so the movement and timing will need to be adjusted to

SDS

Play better and don't choke. Personally I haven't gave up a late comeback all year

Wow. Yeah. That would be the answer wouldn't it? This is the "aha" moment I needed.

SDS

Solid advice guys. Thank you! I'd venture to say in most of my losses in RS and the event this exact sequence has happened in 50% of them.

I'm going to give this a shot also. Thank you.

SDS

Yes, Kluber.

Not helpful. You could have just walked past this post.

Yes, Kluber.

I just can't bring myself to use Kluber. Nothing against him but I feel like he's so overused just like Kershaw last year.

SDS

I'd agree with you if every time I'm in line for some comeback logic that train doesn't just leave me at the station.
