Easy solution to the "starters as relievers" debate
-
- Only allow starters to be used out of the bullpen in extra innings.
- Severe stamina consequences if you choose to use a starter out of the bullpen.
That is completely fair to both sides of this debate and something I think everyone can compromise on.

- is unrealistic as bringing in a SP after using an Opener is a common Strategy in real Baseball

No it's not. Leave the moderating to the actual moderators.

When people are bringing in 3 starters in RS is totally unrealistic!! Yes a few teams use a opener but unless a starter is injured or getting totally hit around teams don't bring in another starter in the 7th or whenever. People saying this is a how Baseball is now are delusional!! IJS.
Also to the OP that's exactly how I feel. Can't use a starter till your bullpen is depleted and severe energy loss. -
the problem is ranked seasons games are so totally different from a real regular baseball season schedule. In a regular season, it is not about the battle it is about the war. You want to save your SPs to do their jobs, start games. You will have some games against rivals and some games that matter more than others and some games that are harder than others and some cake walks that you can save your bullpen against.
in ranked seasons, EVERY GAME is a game 7. Every game is against a player of your similar caliber and every game either rewards you with rating points or cost you valuable rating point momentum.
Using starters as relievers is EXACTLY what happens in game 7s and playoff atmosphere games which are exactly what ranked seasons games are about. and you can NEVER afford not to throw your best players because you end up only gaining 9 points for a win or losing 20pts for a loss which is extremely discouraging.
The only ways to remedy that would be to either 1) completely remove Skill-based / rating-based matchmaking or at least relax it so that yeah, sometimes you face a team that you can rest up against and sometimes you have to use the whole rotation and other times you have to navigate a normal game. 2) change the rating point reward system to be more rewarding for playing games especially at players of similar caliber. AKA your rating reward should always be higher than your rating loss when you face players near, at or above your rating. or 3) every season you lock in your starters and relievers for the month so people can't throw their whole pen/rotation one game and then sub in new players for the next game to rest up. [ I know this is unfeasible because then new release cards become less valuable over the course of the month and players don't buy new cards and spend money]
-
The answer is simple, you can use starters however you want, but once you use him, he's locked out for three games. Yes, you can replace him in your rotation, but eventually he's going to have to be in your lineup for three games to be eligible to pitch again.

A better solution would be to stop dropping levels in RS. People do anything they can to avoid losing because losses always cost more rating points.
If they would make it to where once you got in a level you couldn't fall back out of it some of the nonsense would tone down. Put on your hardhats though if you plan on playing RS, it's not about playing the game a certain way it's about winning. The BS won't ever go away.
I have played 1 RS game because of the behaviors mentioned. I instead focus my 9 inning fix in a Custom League where there are play standards and quality players.
People seem to forget RS isn't the only reason to play DD.

How about just get some hits and stop complaining

I wouldn’t mind at all if you couldn’t fall below the teir you made. Like if you get to 700’s you can’t fall below that . Your loss will make you fall if your like 754 to 725 and so on but once you got that threshold you stay there. Would help keep people where they should be from a competitive standpoint also.

They could eliminate the difficulty limbo between AS and HOF as well.

But what if I'd rather play on all star but make it to DS?
