Where are all the Vet's?

When DD first dropped in MLBTS 12, it was with a bunch of fictional players your had to upgrade attributes using stubs. This was a fun concept and MLB players were mostly useless. Your players would expire after a certain number of games (career or whatnot) and you’d have to build a whole other squad. It was so much fun.
And yes I’ve been playing DD that long
I remember making every left handed pitcher Tom Glavine and every righty reliever Bobby Ayala.

Fake players were a lot of fun. You could put a bunch of useless bronze and silver players into a pot and get one gold player, then mash some gold players together for a diamond. You even could control what position the guy would be by mixing players from only that position. Imagine these greed bags letting you exchange golds for a diamond in today’s game
Also you could customize the name and appearance of the fake players if you liked. If you got a left handed pitcher with a good cutter, you could name him Andy pettitte and use his delivery and stuff.
Exactly

I actually find myself enjoying offline quite a bit, which is a huge reversal for me, I was basically online only unless I needed to grind for something (and even then I hated playing vs the computer). But this real I really enjoy stuff like showdown, so I don't play much ranked
I still have an offline franchise mode that I dip into, but this year in terms of DD I feel slighted. That might just be me, but I feel like the whole game took 2 step's backwards.
Idk, to me there seems to be more offline content.
There are evolution players. (Yes some online missions, but the majority of any evolution is offline stuff).
Team Affinity is way more relevant for offline, with stuff like showdowns and moments tied to it.
I have reasons to occasionally do Play vs CPU to accomplish things like player evolution.
You have player programs, which combines moments, stats, and play vs cpu (Again, some online moments but the majority is offline).
Conquest maps are decent, especially compared to this time last year, we didn't see things like prospect packs early on.
The only thing really missing to make offline the ultimate experience is being able to prestige players.
Content has never been my problem with SDS, its the way the game plays. IMO this year's game play's like sh#$,. I am experiencing the best success I have had online since '17 but its just not enjoyable to me. It's all feel's very predictable, suddenly those centred swings go from good/popped to good/squared...then the next game its back to good/popped.
Gotcha, I just assumed you meant offline content wise because you said "but this year in terms of DD I feel slighted.", and I assumed the word slighted was meant as saying SDS didn't focus as much on offline. That's my bad
Let's be honest, I HATE MOMENT'S, but I have never hid that fact lol. But if that's the only way to truly enjoy the game I am willing to give it a try, Unfortunately IMO moment's have sucked and Conquest has been kind of a filler but it isn't to me in terms of offline content. It honestly just feels like a write off game to me, focusing everything on next gen.
I keep hearing this, that there was no effort and they're focusing on next gen. Do you guys remember what a real mailed in sports game looks like? Exactly the same as the year before with roster updates.
This game has a completely rebuilt fielding system, from the ground up. It may be broken, but its far from no effort. Same with hitting, it's not just brought over from last year, for good or bad.
The rng stuff is what it is, if you're going to gave cards with attributes its going to be there to some degree. I think part of the problem is the feedback doesn't work well. I'd prefer good squared and good good to get better results, but I don't want rng gone completely.

I think it's a combination of some being banned for snapping or speaking their mind, some simply not bothered to post and some simply not playing anymore.
I look on the leaderboards and there are a lot of names that had become familiar that are simply not there anymore. It's not surprising on any count to be honest.

this is the NHL franchise converted into MLB mode, sorry to say it but it is. There are meta's and they change with every patch, just like EA sport's, the game isn't fun to me. To those who enjoy it I praise you, you are stronger than I am. To me, this game is just BP rolled into a collectibles binder.

That said, be honest with your complaints. There was clearly effort put into it. If its a bad game, its a bad game. But its not due to effort. Its more likely due to philosophical differences between us the players, SDS, and their bosses at Sony.

For SDS? Probably, for Sony? They aren't going to leave money on the table.
We're kind of screwed. As long as we keep buying the game they know they have us, but if sales drop off most publishers assume there's just no interest in the game and stop making it, rather than try to fix it. Its a catch 22.

I'd prefer good squared and good good to get better results, but I don't want rng gone completely.
this is the NHL franchise converted into MLB mode, sorry to say it but it is. There are meta's and they change with every patch, just like EA sport's, the game isn't fun to me. To those who enjoy it I praise you, you are stronger than I am. To me, this game is just BP rolled into a collectibles binder.
I'm not telling you how to feel. I don’t love this year's game either, and that includes content. I think last year's game was better in almost every way, I think 17 had the best content delivery.
That said, be honest with your complaints. There was clearly effort put into it. If its a bad game, its a bad game. But its not due to effort. Its more likely due to philosophical differences between us tge players, SDS, and their bosses at Sony.
To me, a veteran of the franchise, it is a bad game. It feel's like they focused on appealing to the casual's, that doesn't develop a game, that put's it into EA Sports realm IMO.
Sure, they have to appeal to casuals though. Most games do. If they didn't there probably wouldn't be a game at all.
you really believe that the fanbase of this game wouldn't pour in enough money on Micro's to fuel this franchise?...come on...Last year I dropped well over a G note.
For SDS? Probably, for Sony? They aren't going to leave money on the table.
We're kind of screwed. As long as we keep buying the game they know they have us, but if sales drop off most publishers assume there's just no interest in the game and stop making it, rather than try to fix it. Its a catch 22.
I know we are all f#$$ed lol, that is what bother's me the most.

I just don’t like it here that much so I don’t post here much anymore, that and honestly I’m just not that heavy into the game as I used to be, I discuss in Facebook groups still but here to be perfectly honest just isn’t worth the time.
That and I’ve been in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and don’t feel like using up my time getting yelled at for my opinion ️

You have player programs, which combines moments, stats, and play vs cpu (Again, some online moments stats, but majority is offline)
Conquest maps are decent, especially compared to this time last year, we didn't see things like prospect packs early on.
The only thing really missing to make offline the ultimate experience is being able to prestige players.
Imo 2020 offline > 2019 offlineSingle-player DD in MLB 20 is unspeakably bad, just as it was in 19. There's a major disparity between the list of things you can do in singleplayer to get cards, and the list of things you can do with those cards. The latter list is simply pathetic.
I thought they had turned a corner in providing things to do in singleplayer with the stat missions from the last inning program in 19, but I was obviously wrong. They didn't add any kind of meaningful new mode to play proper 9-inning games with our teams, they haven't put out any moments that use our teams, and they haven't spackled over that hole with a decent set of repeatable set of missions that can be done in play vs. CPU. Same as last year, the only repeatable missions are the innings ones for TA points, and those are background tasks with not near enough interesting foreground tasks.
I can't help but come to the conclusion that they genuinely don't care about DD being good outside of multiplayer.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but as I said, this is the first year I enjoy offline play, and I'm entitled to that opinion.
