SP energy is a good idea in theory but unless SDS can make it matter more, and make pitchers lose energy faster, I way prefer random starters. Throwing a guy on 3 days rest or bringing in your ace out of the pen should come at a huge cost. What the game doesn’t reflect is that guys can’t do that for 162 games. If their energy actually reset every 5 games in real life, then teams would only use 3 starters. But right now it’s beyond annoying to face Kluber every game, and if not starting, out of the pen.

Agreed. On paper, it probably sounded like a great idea to let us choose our starters. I assume a lot of us complained that we couldn't. But in practice it creates the unrealistic and annoying problems you stated. (Oh look! Kluber again!)I like random better, too. Also, it rewards you for having a complete rotation, and not just a strong top 3.

I hate pick your starter and then use any other starter from the pen and not needing a bullpen. I don’t mind it for offline gameplay but on line wasn’t a good idea. I’d like random back but make it random for both sides instead of the 1-1, 2-2 ranked starter. That way we’re not versing the same pitcher.

I noticed in the event, when I’d bring in a SP in relief, occasionally he would start deep in the yellow even though he was fully rested. It seems like there’s a ~25% chance of this happening. Idk if it’s like that in RS because I don’t use SP in relief there but it’s something.

This issue has been brought up so many times, i'm surprised they haven't nerfed it already. If they can't, they should just get rid of being able to use starters out of the bullpen.

It would also help if they fixed reliever stamina.

I love being able to chose my starter but hate that they can come out of the pen and can be started every game if you feel like it. People always say “it’s going to hurt your opponent in the long run”. Well that doesn’t help me when my next opponent can start Kluber if he wants. And any pitcher that has 100+ stamina can be started every other game with no issue. I think when you select a starter for a game, then that starter should locked and can not be used for the next 4 games. And just get rid of having starters come out of the pen. I know they said they wanted to include the “opener” trend as an option but no one is doing that with a rotation of 90+ overall starters.
