I'm looking forward to a Deion Sanders card some day.
Great football player.. terrible baseball player...
You know he led the league in triples and had an OPS of .841 as a platoon player one season. I dont see how that could be considered a terrible baseball player.
1 season he was pretty good.. (1992) not all star level but pretty good...
The other 10 seasons he was replacement level. Even below replacement level in a couple. That's a terrible baseball player. His name was much bigger than he actually was. At least in this sport. In football he was much better
Of course he was better in football. It's kind of hard to be better in another sport than being the best cover corner to ever play the game (and extremely good returner).
That's just it. I'm not saying if Deion gave his all to baseball he wouldn't have been great. He was an incredible athlete. But baseball always took a back seat. He never played too many baseball games because he'd leave his team's behind for football.
But because of this, he never realized any potential in baseball and therefore was a subpar baseball player. He wasn't good at all besides that one season.
In football he's one of the best special teams cover corner ever, like you said.Ok, fine. I guess we will have to get by with a Jeff Blauser or Glenn Hubbard card, lol.

Don't forget about Mark Lemke

Man it would be awesome to get a Flashback for some more recent Giants players. Ya know from those players that won 3 world series so close together... without even having to bang on a f'n trash can. Or would that make too much sense for the year 2020 where nothing makes sense at all?
Marco Scutaro please.
I remember being pissed that we traded Charlie Culberson for him. Haha. Ball players with long hair just belong in a Giants uniform. Bless Marco though. That would be a fun flashback card.
Yeah that was a fun year. I was rooting for him even as a Rockies fan and he only played for us for like a half a season. Dude absolutely tore it up when he got there.

People were kidding about this yesterday and it’s real tomorrow. What’s the deal SDS? Another Brave? Why?
Finally showing some love for the best team in the 90’s.
Can't be the best team if you're 1-4 when it counts
They're the best at fan chants...
Or the worst.. I'll never get that tomahawk chop chant out of my headJust made think about something. SDS should put team chants in the game. At least for franchise mode.

They do have the drum in Oakland.. pretty sure Cleveland too. But ya, the Braves chant would give that atmosphere in Atlanta for sure. Yankees roll call would be cool too

Better hitter than Bo Jackson. Didnt have the power, but a much more polished hitter.

In his prime years from 92-97 he hit 280 Avg, 744 OPS and stole 162 bases (55 SB per 162 G)... That's not terrible at all. Actually impressive for a guy that only focused on baseball part time.
And since you mentioned "replacement level", no, he was not... He actually had a BBRef WAR of 7.4 across those seasons... His WAR per 650 PA in those years was 3.4, pretty [censored] good.

Bo Jackson - 2626 PA, 112 OPS+, 111 wRC+
Deion Sanders - 2325 PA, 89 OPS +, 90 wRC+I'll take Bo, thanks....

It seems as if this thread is becoming more and more about the two sport players of the 1990's. If that is the case, let's bring it back to the Braves and talk about Brian Jordan.
Brian Jordan. 15 year career slash line: .282/.333/.455
Much better in baseball than he was in football. 184 HR and 119 stolen bases don't hurt either.

I got into a pretty intense arguement with a friend over who was the better 2 sport athlete. I sided with Deion as he was the best to ever play his position in football, as well as a pretty decent ball player. Bo was amazing in his own right but I feel like his baseball legacy is a little overblown due to his very memorable moments.

One season accounted for almost half his total WAR. Fangraphs is even harsher on him.
He was worse than replacement level in 2 seasons and below average (average being 2 WAR and hitting above 100 wRC) in almost every year. I stand by what I said. -

Hes underrated and forgotten. Played alongside Deion.

Speaking of legendary two sport athletes, I hit a home run with Tebow in the future stars event.
