What’s the difference ?

Zone is more skill based than directional.
Directional = move the joystick in the direction where you want a batted ball to go and you rely on RNG to make solid contact for you.
Zone = move the contact point to meet the ball and if you swing and make solid contact you rely on RNG to not give you a Perfect Perfect out.
