Question about Hitting

Ok, here is the situation. I broke my left hand about 2 months ago and therefore could not use my left thumb and so could no longer use Zone Hitting as I did in MLB 18.
I started using directional and for the most part, it worked fairly well. I was not having too many issues on Veteran and could win fairly regularly on All-Star. But one of the things that I noticed was that directional was/is prone to streaks....you get very hot and hit like a monster or go cold and get tons of pop ups and ground outs on good timed swings.....not too different from Zone you'll tell me.
This weekend, the cast finally came off and I started to hit again with Zone. Ouch. Painful. I find myself having to re-learn how to hit. What I have noticed is that I hit more home runs, get more consistent hard line hits and have a lot less difficulty going opposite field.
Here is where I have a question to you all.
Back in MLB 18, I used to "track" the ball from the pitchers hand and follow it in with the PCI until it was time to swing. I would aim my PCI at the point where the pitcher would release the ball and go from there. It worked for me fairly well, and I think a lot of people were doing the same. Now, with my thumb still a bit stiff, I've started sitting in a specific location depending on where I think the pitch will be and react to it. The results are very promising but I don't know if I want to fully commit to "re-learning" a new method to hit.
Haven't gone online yet, and won't for a while still, but I was hoping for some input from you all on how you all use Zone.......and yes, even vs. CPU, I get a lot of GOOD/OKs for outs.....I was getting them just as bad in directional.
BTW, is center swinging still a thing online as it was in MLB 18?

There's lot of YouTubers with hitting tutorials, they're all fine. I think movie gaming tv is the best for tips. I also like watching college Lefty hit and have successfully Incorporated some of what he does.

Ok here’s the situation, my parents went away on a weeks vacation.... for real tho, hitting is harder this year than in years past because timing Windows. We just gotta try our best to adapt and learn but it seems a lot is random. I can hit my X button the exact same way on two fastballs right down the middle and one will be a perfect/perfect and one will be a good/weak.

If you play on something with high input lag, when you track the ball in flight, you might not be able to catch up to it. You might make contact, but it won’t be where you think it should be.
