Having defensive alignment on auto?

I like having it on auto so I dont have to think about where to position the field every at bat, but I dont like is that it plays my OF deep all the time. I am forever giving up runs because of a single to center that my fielder is running from the warning track to get. Is there a way to have it set to normal without messing up the rest? Or am I going to have to check it for every batter and move them for just that better every time I want to do it to avoid screwing up the rest of the alignments?

You can turn auto shift off. And adjust on a player by player basis. That’s what I do. Had trouble with late hits that result in opposite field doubles while auto shifted.
