Just because you didn’t catch a lucky break doesn’t mean it’s a scam.
-
It is a scam. A few people got lucky, most got fleeced.

Nobody got fleeced.

Ah, I didn't even know about this but I'd never buy one of these anyway. What are the chances you make more than what you paid? I think the only LS diamonds that sell for 25K or above comfortably (plus the 10% market tax) are Mike Trout, Nolan Arenado, Cody Bellinger, Gerrit Cole, Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, Justin Verlander, Christian Yelich. Maybe you get Francisco Lindor, Aroldis Chapman, Matt Chapman, or Josh Hader and basically make your Stubs back, maybe not.
That said, I was wondering why some LS cards were a bit cheaper about an hour or so ago. I wish I would've bought the few I needed but it's all good. I'm sure there will be another soon.

No, it is pretty much a scam.
You're likely to lose 15K+ in Stubs and the odd chance you do get something better is so minimal. Obviously it is what it is. If you look in this thread, nobody on the first page pulled a card that sells for more than 25K. If these sold for like 10 or 15K, I could definitely see these being a bit more appealing but these "Flash Sales" have been so bad considering the only other pack that has been involved in them has been the Future Stars packs and they basically gave those cards away for free the next day, which was and still is, extremely underhanded.

Honest question: do you seriously not know what the word “scam” means, or are you just a whinge monster? Do you cry that the lotto is a “scam” every time you willingly play and then don’t win?
You’re acting like SDS forced you to buy a pack, or like they hid/lied about the possible results from you, or changed the terms of the deal after you paid your stubs. We all know there are maybe only 10 diamonds that are worth more than 25K. Anyone who bought the pack knew it was a roll of the dice. As long as people got a diamond player, then it’s clearly not a scam. There was no bait and switch. And if you think the 10 responses in the first page represent the whole of the community, then I am unbelievably embarrassed for you.

Okay, maybe "scam" isn't the exact word I'd choose. I'm just saying that I don't see the guaranteed Live Series diamond worth what it was going for in the last Flash Sale before the one today that went for 25K.
Obviously I'm not going to tell you what to do with your Stubs, that's up to you -- and honestly, maybe the excitement of the possibility is worth it to you. I wasn't trying to offend you or anyone else in this topic, I just wish there was a little more value in these Flash Sales for myself and other players.

If you’re not going to gamble on the pack itself, the value comes in being able to swoop in and buy diamonds off the market at a discount. These packs inject a ton of diamonds into circulation at basically the same time, so the market reacts accordingly. I think pretty much all the diamonds — particularly the low diamonds — dropped about 10%-15% as a result of the sale. Obviously, we’re all better off just avoiding packs and buying the cards individually, and a byproduct of the pack gamble means we can get better prices on specific purchases.
Most of the gameplay is broken in 2020, and that’s where we all should direct our SDS-vitriol. Packs are just stupid gambles, and any losses are our own fault.

That's exactly what I'd recommend too. In fact, that's usually what I do. I'm a bit upset that I missed out on buying up a few Live Series I needed.
Yeah, it does suck a bit that as the year goes on, I always feel less and less inclined to buy packs. I wish there was a bit more value. But packs are packs. I think they've done a good job of dishing out free packs with the Conquest boards and Team Affinities.
