The Starter out of the pen problem and how to fix it.

We all know starters are not being used as intended in RS right now. Hell Movie just put in his video yesterday telling you if you aren't using Kluber as a 3 inning save guy, you are using him wrong. That is an issue. Starters in relief need to be an EMERGENCY decision, and there needs to be concequences for making that decision.
First, Non relievers brought out the pen should be taxed 1.5x to 2x per pitch when brought out of the pen. They aren't used to coming in mid game and this puts them out of a comfort zone. Then if the starter was not at full stamina when brought in as relief, following the game, you should incur a 1 game penalty before stamina regen begins. Also keep the current system where pitchers must be on the active squad for stamina to regen. These 2 changes will make it so you'll have to pay the price in future games if you choose to bring that starter in for a relief appearance.

Make it simple, if a starter either starts a game or comes in from the pen he's locked out for the next 3 games. Let's be honest, even in real baseball when a starter comes in from the pen he doesn't pitch for another 3 or 4 games. That's why it only happens in the playoffs or elimination games.

I want them to still be able to make that decision, but the pitcher be woefully ineffective if they do put him in gassed.

See this is the win at any cost game. Hell your friend kyle straight up said if his starter doesn’t pitch well he is bringing kluber in. I like to win but I use my bullpen as intended. I played a guy that started Oswalt, bright in newhauser and finished with kluber

Here’s the solution: only make it available when within 20 points of a 700 or 900 rating. That’s your emergency situation. Like Walter Johnson in game 7 of the 24 World Series, this is the emergency situation where it’s warranted. All other situations are simply exploits.

I’ve said this for months now. I think your guys solutions are a little extreme. It still needs to come down to increased time for getting a starter warmed and that’s when the penalties should incur. Such as lose of control when brought in not brought in fully warmed. Getting a starter to full warm should take 3-4 innings. I do agree energy should be drained faster with starters when used as a reliever but still it’s a choice that is made in the MLB even if it’s at extreme times. So a pitcher who comes in after warming 3-4 innings then pitches 2-3 should have energy drained as if they pitched a 9 inning game. I agree it gets abused but some teams don’t even use a starter like the rays for a lot of games so it is a tactic. I think locking players out and stuff is to extreme and hard of a solution but making it longer to warm up and having a lot more penalty to control and the increase fatigue is the best fix

For every inning he gets ready in the pen, that’s one step closer to not being able to use him in the future, just like Gerrit Cole in game 7 - he leaves your team forever.

This will all sort itself out when they release a few more really solid RP options. We probably won’t even be talking about this in another month or two.

When all the streamers are endorsing this meta, it’s kind of a given that people will start emulating it. If pitcher confidence didn’t play such a huge role in hit outcomes, this would be less of an issue.

It’s the equivalent on twitch of the dudes using dual pistoles and c4 every round now haha

As long as relief pitchers are still getting tired after 10 pitches it'll keep happening. As long as Kluber and Newhouser regain energy fast enough to piggyback every game it'll keep happening.
