Custom Leagues vs Ranked hitting
-
Why is hitting so vastly different from ranked to custom. In custom league I actually get rewarded for good swings. It feels amazing. But I go into ranked and it a roll of the dice whether it’s going to be good squared or good okay. I just don’t get why there are different. I’m enjoying the online play in custom leagues way more than ranked. Anyone else feel this way?

Seconded. Leagues and friendlies play great, RS and BR feel worse.

Maybe it’s because high overall pitchers

Probably in RS and BR the playing field is purposely levelled in random match ups to account for the unknown skill of the opponent, because of high potential for matchups between very skilled and very unskilled players. If gameplay were realistic in a case like that it would be fun for neither. when it’s levelled, at least (and only) one of the two players is feeling satisfied.

I kind of get where you’re coming from at a br perspective but in ranked I disagree bc for the most part you match up with someone close to your rating. I do understand where you are coming from though

I haven’t played custom leagues, but I have heard this said before. Online DD games are horrific in general, so it wouldn’t take much to improve the gameplay. At this point, it’s hard not to shrug and believe it’s a result of some RNG that SDS implemented. I used to mock people who said they coded the game to annoy people intentionally, but I’m all out of excuses for this franchise and development team at this point.
It’s pretty mind blowing how low we’ve sunk in terms of quality of gameplay this year. The fact that they’ve done the usual trick of totally ignoring what everyone asked for and heading in the opposite direction shouldn’t shock me, but I thought they’d actually learned from ‘18. I enjoyed ‘19 overall on balance, it had moments where you thought WTF, but it was a huge improvement on ‘18 in every way. Now we’ve got...... this. I can live with the content, it’s not too bad at all so far, but the gameplay is killing me. Everything is just so inconsistent, from hitting to pitching to fielding.
I log in never knowing what to expect. I mean, you can usually count on some [censored] up errors in the outfield, you’d probably bet your bottom dollar on some hung pitches for sure, but the hitting is where I want to grab a bag of nails and a hammer and pound them into my eyeballs, just so I never have to see myself being late on an 88mph sinker when I was consistently early on a 102mph fastball just one game earlier. Or see the good/okay feedback on a squared up swing. It’s beyond maddening. Pretty much like every other year. -
