Just wanted to put this out there for people renaming their input to pc just incase its happening to others. Ive also done this and get good results, 1 thing though im just now realizing after just playing a game, Is sometimes it doesn't work. If you have use this method and have inconsistent gameplay this might be the problem. Went to bed last night everything was fine. Played my first game today and had latency and was behind om everything, Thought maybe i was just on HOF but pitch speeds didn't look faster.. Finally Halfway through the game i switched back input name to PlayStation and put game mode on and evrything was normal. I lost the game but maybe wouldve won had i made the change earlier. I say that to say this. If you're in a game and everything feels off compared to the last game or last time you played, Check your tv settings, you get a whole 3mins of pause time use them. For now im just gonna use game mode.

Edit: offline renaming your input plays slighlty better but its hard to really tell the difference. The difference really shows online though. Don't know why. Maybe a tech genius could explain this

So I have seen a lot of posts about this recently. I have a 65" Samsung but I play on a monitor. I think simply renaming the input wouldn't / didn't so anything. However, you can tell the input what type of device is connected. PC / TV/ Game/ DVD.... Etc. I switched it to PC and could tell a big difference from when I would play on it it game mode before I had a montior. So, Maybe make sure that you're actually telling it what type of device it supposed to be rather than renaming it ?

I have a 65 Samsung as well. When you are changing it, are you hitting the home button, scrolling over to the input where it says Playstation 4, and then hitting the up arrow to edit? Then it gives you a list of all kinds of things like playstation 4, Bluetooth, PC, etc. Is that how you change it to PC mode?

That's what i do. But like i said, for some reason my first online game had bad latency until i switched back to PlayStation and game mode. Idk

When I was researching all of this it seemed to be one of the things that was mentioned in all the articles I read... can’t remember the specifics

I did this yesterday, I honestly saw no difference between playing on game console input with game mode on vs having it in PC input. At first I was way behind on everything, but after a bit it was the same, went to practice and was switching back and forth with out any noticeable difference

I am very confused. How do you "rename" an input?

I have Samsung, which is what it is for, I followed the directions I saw online. With the settings I have I should be getting less input lag, so logically I am, however it appears the difference is not noticeable. Not like the difference in standard vs game mode. So I'd say as long as you are in game mode, dont worry too much about it.

Figured out how to edit, but my TV recognizes that its a PS4 and auto changes it to that, will changing it to PC help? Because when it names it PS4 I still have unbearable lag. Its a Samsung QLED 65 inch 7 series.

When you changed it did the screen flicker and come back on a little bit dimmer?

Yeah it's not a rename, its telling it what type of input it is, PC instead of game console. You will see a picture difference immediately. The only thing I dont see is any benefit. I fully believe that it should have less lag, I have just yet to see that it is noticeable. It maybe more noticeable in an online game than vs CPU though, I hadn't thought about that.

I just tried it. While I didnt perceive any lag and wasnt way behind on pitches facing TA Graterol, It does like like the graphics take a pretty significant hit and things seem a little herky jerky.

Sounds similar but not exactly the same. I would say so yes.
