Can someone definitively say what causes my runner to try for third on a lead off double? I press “advance all” until the runner passes first base and then press triangle so he stops at second. This works almost all the time, except of course when I am behind in a close game.

Why does my runner in scoring position delay when I try to send him home? I know the game wants him to tag and wait to see the ball get down, but if I can clearly see the ball is in the corner for extra bases, and I am mashing “advance all”, why does he not go?

It's usually lag. I control my baserunners individually, which helps mitigate the majority of these types of problems. It's not perfect, but it's far more rare.

There's a short delay from pressing the button till the runner leaves the bag. The trick is to press the run button slightly before the ball is caught. Play around with it. You'll get it. It's easy after you understand that and tagging allows you to be safe far more often.

By individually, you mean selecting the runner with the analog and then pressing the base?

So in the case of the lead off double, do you still need to select the runner, or can you just hit triangle?
