Make sure to set your hitting difficulty to rookie in the main settings of the game. It does make a difference for whatever reason. Had set mine to HOF the other day for practice and forgot to change it back. Couldn’t understand why I couldn’t hit in showdown changed it to rookie and I’m blasting everything.

Try a round with it set to HOF and then on rookie

User hitting difficulty settings are for offline play only there is zero chance that this is true.
